Sage Day at Boonton is excited for a venture into New York City as an extension of the urban art studies taking place in Mrs. Tsering's classes.  Five Pointz Aerosol Art Center is considered a destination for well-gifted and established artists creating art more traditionally known as "graffiti." Their website, describes it as "...an outdoor art exhibit space considered to be the world's premiere graffiti Mecca, where aerosol artists from around the globe paint colorful pieces on the walls of a 200,000-square-foot factory building."  Students will have the opportunity to explore the hundreds of pieces of art to inspire them for their own urban art projects in the classroom.

Our first quarter has ended and a new marking period is well underway. Report cards were distributed to parents who turned out  for a successful night of Parent-Teacher Conferences. It is always nice for our teachers to be able to connect one-on-one with families and celebrate the successes of our students.  The time is also beneficial to share and strategize ways to continue assisting students in the path toward graduation and beyond. Sage Day at Boonton sends a hearty "Thank You!" to all of our families.

As we look back on the first 3 months of this school year, we see how our calendar was packed with activities. To recap, our school year began with a very successful  Parents' Night and finalization of student schedules and electives in the month of September. October brought several college speakers to Sage to speak to our Juniors & Seniors, pictures were taken for the yearbook, our Juniors took the PSAT exam and we had our very fun filled Halloween Party.  November brought Quarter 1 exams, parent/teacher conferences, our first quarter report cards and our annual Thanksgiving Feast and football game. On November 22nd, one of our English classes hosted a "Gatsby Party" for all our Juniors.  Students prepared various foods, wore costumes of the era, and the classroom was transformed to create a portrait of the Roaring Twenties.

We are predicting a very exciting month for December as well. On December 16th, we will have our National Honor Society Induction Ceremony. As of yet, the inductees have not been chosen by the Election Board.

Our annual Community Service Club trip to Dellridge Nursing Home is scheduled for December 18th.  Our students perform songs for the group and dress in Santa outfits.  All of the patients look forward to this special vocal performance with many of the traditional carols each year. 

Our College and Career Transition Department continues to finalize all the applications and plans to have them in the mail before our break. The students who have begun internships are doing quite well and are learning job responsibilities. Mr. Montesano will start to meet with the Juniors to develop their transition plans and to begin to set goals for next year.

We will kick off our holiday break with a festive breakfast for the entire school on Monday, December 23rd. From all of us here in Rochelle Park, we hope you have a wonderful season of holidays full of joy and meaning.

Staff and students celebrated a Thanksgiving luncheon on Wednesday, November 27th. Thanks to all of the families that contributed items that made it a successful feast.
