Westland, MI - On Monday, November 18 the Westland City Council approved a professional service agreement with McKenna Associates to provide consulting and planning services for the completion of the 2014-2018 Wayne-Westland Parks and Recreation Master Plan.

The five-year plan is a requirement to the Michigan Department of Natural Resources (MDNR) to maintain eligibility for grant funding.

The conract is not to exceed $14,000 and will meet all of the requirements of the MDNR, with members of the McKenna team having prior experience in the technical prerequisites of the five- year Parks and Recreation Master Plan.

"We have no doubt that with the expert team of veterans at McKenna Associates we will be delivered a final updated plan, which will aim to maximize the opportunities of local, state and federal grants to enhance and update our City parks," said Mayor Wild.

Public participation, in both Wayne and Westland, will help steer the master plan, as well as historic, community or cultural importance of current and future parks and recreation sites.  The end goal is the create a plan that builds upon the success of the City's premier parks and recreation program.
