Brrr!

Palm Sunday

Sunday, April 13, is Palm Sunday, and, weather permitting, we will begin the 10:15 service at the labyrinth where we will have the opening words and prayers before processing into the church.  In case of rain, we will start in All Saints Hall.  Palm Sunday officially ushers in the observance of Holy Week, and a true observance of Holy Week with all its various services can be a helpful path toward celebrating Easter more fully.  Please join us!

Good Friday Cross Walk

Please join the Christian County Ministerial Association on Good Friday, April 18, at 10:00 am for a Cross Walk beginning in front of the "old courthouse," with stops for prayer at Virginia Street Baptist, First Presbyterian Church, First Methodist Church, and Pioneer Cemetery.  Younger, stronger participants will be carrying a large wooden cross.  All are invited to join us at noon for the Good Friday Liturgy at Grace.

Spiritual Formation Group

The next meeting of the Spiritual Formation Group (aka Christian Education Committee) is scheduled for Tuesday, April 22 at 4:00 pm in the Gaither Room.  This group is now being chaired by Joyce Cornett, and we are looking for new members--in addition to the small group that has been participating over the past year.  We need your ideas and support to expand our current offerings.  Please join us!

Peanut Butter Challenge

We had a very successful outcome with our Peanut Butter Challenge--collecting a total of 281 jars for Aaron McNeil's food pantry!  Thanks to all who contributed, and especially to Tom and Sally Brewer who cheered us on with peanut butter recipes and little-known facts about PB.  And special thanks to Robin and Elliot Ferguson who solicited donations from far and wide and brought many jars last Sunday, along with a well-used wagon so that our kids could participate in rolling in a load along with the other oblations at the worship service!

Lenten Preaching Mission and Luncheons

It's over!  As this issue is going to press, Bishop White is headed home to Louisville after preaching at our final service.  This year's services and luncheons have been particularly well-attended and well-received.  Many thanks to all those who have contributed in so many ways--cooks, servers, decorators, speakers, organists, counters, etc!

Cookie Dough Delivery

Our orders from Little Lambs Fundraisers are scheduled to be delivered on Tuesday, April 15.  We are hoping that most orders can be picked up that day--preferably early afternoon.  Call the church on Tuesday for more exact information.

Flowers, Flowers, Flowers

If you would like to contribute to flowers for Easter, there are envelopes available in the narthex and on the wall across from the sacristy.  In case that is not convenient, you can also call Debbie in the church office.  Names of those that you would like to remember or honor through your contribution to the Easter flowers will be included in the service leaflet for Easter. Deadline is April 17! Also, after Easter we will go back to our usual practice of weekly fresh flowers for the Sunday morning Eucharist.  Spaces are available on the calendar on the wall outside the sacristy.  If you would like to share a Sunday and reduce your cost, that is completely acceptable.  We always have beautiful flowers at Grace, and that's one thing that will probably never change!

Anonymous Giving

Occasionally the question arises about how someone who wants to make anonymous monetary gifts to the church can do so.  There are several different ways.  One, you can go to any bank and have a cashier's check sent to Grace that does not include any identifying information.  If you want to be able to tax deduct your gift, keep a copy of the cashier's check.  Two, if you want to give cash, put it in an envelope marked "Grace Church contribution" and then put it in the locked box that the kindergarten uses--on the wall in the cloister to the left of the entrance to All Saints.  Also, you can send the contribution through our Bishop and he will "launder" it through his discretionary fund.  We appreciate all contributions.
