Dear Dragons,

We are off to the races, and the first serves, and the spikes. Toe is about to meet leather - the fall sporting season has begun. So come and join us for all the fun. Catch up on what you have missed while you were back to school shopping.  We've got it all covered for you.

CROSS COUNTRY:

When you are the No. 1 team in the state, in both boys and girls Cross Country in the pre-season, it is almost impossible to live up to outside expectations. Unless you are the Carroll Dragons men's & women's teams at the Greenhill Six Mile Relay last week. The Dragon Boys Elite Varsity A team won the meet by an unheard of 53 seconds over Houston Strake Jesuit and broke the course record by 14 seconds. The squad consisting of Charlie Gardner, Michael Waugh, Shae Whatley and Reed Brown captured 1st in 29:28. The Elite Varsity B team took 5th with Timou Toure, Nic Fernandes, Mikey Simcho & Chase Haddock with a time of 30:57

The Lady Dragons also had an outstanding day on the course, sweeping the top 2 spots and placing 3 teams in the top 4. The Carroll Girls Elite Varsity A team claimed 1st with Kayli Jones, Sarah Odneal, Gillian Mortimer & Tig Archer running in a time of 35:48. The Elite B team took 2nd with Ali White, Arianna Lopez, Olivia Arriza & Alison Esparza in a time of 36:43.

Up next this outstanding roll looks to continue at the Marcus I invitational.

null

Tennis has opened the season with one of the state's toughest schedules, opening with a loss to the 5A State Champion Grapevine 10-9 and suffering 2 losses to a 6A state semi-finalist in Plano West. They have responded to these tough challenges nicely with bounce back wins over Midland, Lubbock, Keller and 6A powerhouse Allen.
