WHITE ZINFANDEL COMPARED
UC Archives Provides Glimpse into Early History
The white Zinfandel wines often develop a very agreeable bouquet, and in any case form an excellent material for
blending with lighter wines.

E.W. Hilgard - UC Berkeley, April 2, 1884
The fact remains that white and red Zinfandel come from the same grape. White lovers often feel scorned  because of its reputation as the wine people drink when they don't really appreciate wine.  In return, white Zinfandel fans sometimes accuse red drinkers of being "wine snobs."

But it hasn't always been this way.   For example, Examination of Zinfandel Wines published in 1884, talks about red and white Zinfandel without any judgement or provocation between the two.

YOUTHFUL 2013s ARE SHOWING WELL

Melisa Vogt of Examiner.com Shares Her Thoughts
Melissa Vogt Food and Drink Correspondent

Melissa attended Simply Summer Celebration and tasted a wide range of 2013 releases.  She seems please with what she found......

The 2013s are simply not over-ripe like in vintages past, but are lighter in body, with more complexity and structure, perhaps even more elegant than their robust former vintage counterparts. It's certainly safe to say that because of this more finessed style across the board, that the 2013 Zinfandels are going to be excellent food pairing wines.
