NEWS AND RESOURCES
The National League of Cities, ULC's new strategic partner, reaches thousands of local government leaders - elected and appointed. ULC President and CEO Susan Benton has published an essay in Nation's Cities Weekly, titled "Libraries and Public Acce ss to E-Books: What City Leaders Can Do." Read the essay.


The Computer Sciences are the fastest growing sector in the STEM industry. December 9-15 is Computer Science Education Week. Get your library involved.


The IMLS is up and running! The deadline for nominations for the National Medal for Museum and Library Services has been extended through Thursday, October 31, 2013. Instructions and the nomination form are available online.

e-Books @ the Library: The New Normal
 
Over the past 3 years Hennepin County Library, MN, has created a process that addresses implementing and integrating eBooks into its collection. This process is so successful that it will be expanded to other new formats the library considers adding to its collection. Find out more.

MEMBER ACHIEVEMENTS
Richland Library, SC, whose mantra is "access freely," has produced a powerful 2012 Annual e-Report complete with embedded video. Check it out!


Boston Public Library, MA, has received an award honoring its digitization work for Massachusetts' "Digital Commonwealth," an online portal of cultural heritage materials. Read the release.
