Dear CARES Applicants,

Applications and documentation for CARES 2013 are in review now and applicants will be notified of their status by the end of March. We are gearing up for CARES 2014. The first orientation will be on March 26, see our Calendar of Events for details and other events.

Community College Resources
Students attending community colleges may be eligible for partial reimbursements of enrollment fees, tuition or textbooks through the Child Development Training Consortium (CDTC) Student Career and Education Program. Students must be employed by a child care/development program at the time of enrollment. (Employment can include licensed family child care and out-of-school care. Center-based programs must be licensed or a license-exempt center according to DSS regulations). Other eligibility criteria apply as well.

To apply, first create or update a Student Profile on CDTC's website here:

Then print and turn in a hard copy of your profile to you college's CDTC coordinator. For questions, instructions, or assistance, contact your college coordinator:

Center for Social Change:
Honor Those Who Have Led Us, Continue the Work

Are you attending the CAEYC Conference in Pasadena in April? If so, stop by the Center for Social Change. It promises to be an exciting and inspiring place to visit at the CAEYC Conference. The purpose of the Center is to provide a space to engage in safe conversations about the hard issues in our field with resources and an invitation to action. The Center will be open on Saturday, April 5 from 12pm-4pm.

Topics will include: Anti-Bias Education, Peace Camps, Non-Violence in the Lives of Children Project (NVP), and Ecology. The Center will inspire all by raising our voices in song led by Jacki Breger and Betsy Rose because we all know the power of Music! Leaders such as Chris Lamm, Nelson Mandela and Pete Seeger will be honored as we express our gratitude to them for social change and carry on their ideas. Look in your CAEYC Conference schedule to find the Center for Social Change and be sure to include it at the top of your list of places to explore at the conference!
