Moms- Need a little break? Join the TIME OUT Book Club. Friday, January 31, 2014 at 10:30am. Bring the children to play while we discuss this month's book, "The Book Thief". Learn the basics of email and set up your own email account at a free website. Mouse and keyboarding skills are a prerequisite.

How To Use The Library From Home

Join us to learn how to use Overdrive to download ebooks and audiobooks, Zinio to download magazines and our online catalog to renew books, check status of materials  

and put a material on hold.


 

            
Community Knit 
Every Thursday, 10:00 am - 11:30 am

Learn the healing and calming effects of knitting and crocheting.
Socialize with others with the same interest.
Help others by either teaching someone to knit or
making something needed by a child, a senior citizen,
or a homeless person.

Bring your knitting materials!  Some materials may be
provided.


            
Introduction to Computer

This hands-on class is for the beginner who has little or no experience using a computer. It will introduce you to the basics of computer terminology and the popular  

word processing program Microsoft WORD.  

There are no prerequisites for this class.

Black History Film Festival - Midnight Ramble

Avid Black Film historian Lonnie Braxton will be leading an after-hours film series as part of the Library's celebration of Black History Month. 

 

This event is free and open to all.

 

Midnight Ramble

Midnight Ramble is a 1994 documentary about Black Hollywood movies from the period between 1910 and 1950, which were commonly known as "race movies". The documentary begins with an explanation of the social context for American blacks at the turn of the 20th century. It also looks at milestones in the development of race films.

Raising Readers

Raising Readers is a club that was developed to help parents and caregivers of children ages birth-8 support their children's literacy development through the many opportunities that arise  

each day. The club offers eight informal, informational sessions  

covering a variety of topics. All registered participants will receive  

a new, free book at each session.  

 

Scheduled Sessions: Fridays from 10am-11am on the following Fridays:

December 6, 13, 20: January 3, 10, 17, 24, 31 at the Public Library  

of New London in the Community Room.

My Child and Me Music Class   
Thursday, February 6
10:30 am - 11:30 am

A music class for kids birth-5 years of age to foster music literacy and a life-long love of music! Early childhood music classes will provide meaningful musical experiences for children and families. Babies, toddlers, and pre-schoolers will participate in singing, expressive movement, games, creative play, vocal exploration, and instrumental play. Caregivers will be an integral part of the class and will learn how they can incorporate music into their daily routines with children.
