Austin, Texas author Debra Winegarten shares her personal experiences being the only Jew in her elementary school classes in Dallas, Texas, in the 1960s and shows how we can use these encounters to educate others on our unique understanding of who we are in our worlds. Born and raised in Dallas, Texas, Debra is the daughter of Ruthe Winegarten (z"l) and Al Winegarten.
There's Jews in Texas?, Winegarten's fourth book,  won the 2011 Poetica Magazine national competition. Debra will share from her award-winning book, There's Jews in Texas? as well as her forthcoming book, Where Jewish Grandmothers Come From.
