Doors Closing on Abortion in Dallas; Pro-Life Community Celebrates
June 7 Memorial Service to mark the closing of Northpark abortion facility
DALLAS, JUNE 5, 2014 -- The Northpark abortion center at 8363 Meadow Rd has permanently closed its doors, reportedly due to the lack of "physicians" at this location who meet the new hospital privileges requirement under the omnibus pro-life law in Texas (HB 2).

This event has been long awaited by the pro-life community which has prayed outside this abortion center over the last two decades, when it was previously located in a high rise at LBJ and Greenville, and later at its location on Meadow. This Saturday, June 7, the faithful will gather once more outside the now-closed abortion facility for a powerful memorial service to not only remember the lives lost there but also to celebrate this incredible victory over death.

The June 7 closing events will begin with a Mass of Thanksgiving at Christ the King Catholic Church, 8017 Preston Rd, at 8 a.m. The Mass will be followed by a rosary procession by bus to Northpark where the memorial service will commence at 9 a.m., including special prayers, readings, hymns, and the testimonies of women who regret their abortions. Attendees are expected from the local and statewide community, as well as out-of-state guests who prayed or counseled outside this facility over the past two decades.

"We anticipate this inspiring event will draw many people who are devoted to bringing an end to the devastation of abortion, including those who have persisted in prayer and counseling outside this facility since it was one of thirteen abortion centers in Dallas in 1990. We are heartened by this next big step toward an abortion-free Dallas, where only four abortion centers now remain," said Karen Garnett, Executive Director of the Catholic Pro-Life Committee which has supported a prayer and counseling presence outside Northpark in collaboration with friends from Lavon Baptist Church.

After the service, all attendees are invited to return to Christ the King for a celebratory reception featuring special guests and inspiring presentations and testimonies.
