Perry Police Department Updates

The Perry Police Department was decorated by alumni of
the Citizens Police Academy and other members of the
community with blue ribbons.  The ribbons are a way of
showing support by the community for the men and women of
the Police Department.  According to the alumni, this was
a small token of appreciation and support for what our
police do on a daily basis serving their fellow man.  On
behalf of Steve Lynn, Chief of Police, and the men and
women of the Perry Police Department, we would like to
thank the alumni and the community for their continued
support.

K-9 handlers of the Police Department attended the HITS Conference in Jacksonville, Florida.  HITS Training & Consulting brings cutting edge police dog training to agencies from around the country. HITS training is designed exclusively by Police K-9 Handlers, for Police K-9 Handlers. HITS instructors are first class professionals who know the value of a well-trained police dog.  Officers get hands on experience in tracking,
deployment and detection, as well as courtroom testimony. Corporals Jeff Keenom, Armando Sanchez and Officers Nick Boutwell and Van Arflin attended the training.

Lt Ken Ezell, Criminal Investigative Division, attended training in Milledgeville, Georgia for procedures in social media investigation.  Social media affects every aspect of today's life. Unfortunately, criminals see social media as a way to promote illegal activities such as street gangs and drug sales. Abusers keep a watchful eye on their victims by sending them private messages that go unseen for those who are not trained to recover the messages. Stalkers and child predators are able to
take advantage of people they know, especially children who are unaware of their motives. The class teaches how to uncover entire organizations, and how to do a specific search warrant that captures all the data needed to successfully prosecute a case for just about any type of crime.
