Fall is finally upon us and what better way to celebrate than  with locally grown apples? Here at the Black Hen restaurant we're highlighting local apples with a new cocktail and dessert. Our master mixologist, Adam Wynings has created the "Appalachian Mule," featuring Bonum apples locally sourced from our friends at Den Hill Permaculture. We infuse vodka with these apples and add fresh lime juice and top off with ginger beer. Local Gala apples are featured in our fall dessert with a roasted caramel apple a top a flaky puff pastry crust with house made vanilla bean ice cream.

MCEF Grant Cycle seeks sponsors
The Montgomery County Educational Foundation (MCEF) provides grants to educators in Montgomery County Public Schools totaling over $20,000 annually. Individual grants range from $500 to $1,000 and are aimed at funding new and innovative projects that would likely go unfunded without an MCEF grant. By sponsoring a grant, your business directly supports our public schools and our educators. All sponsorships are fully tax-deductible and 100% of the funds go to our schools. To sponsor a 2015 MCEF grant, please download the sponsorship form below. To learn more about the MCEF, please visit our website at
