Westland Police Department Promotes Veteran Officer, Hires New Officer

Westland, MI -On Monday, December 16, 2013 the Westland Police Department swore in one new officer and a veteran officer who is being promoted. This took place at the Westland City Council Meeting.

Officer Brian Humphrey is a 16-year veteran of the Westland Police Department. He has served as both a Patrol Officer and a Field Training Officer. His role as a Field Training Officer is to train and evaluate our newly hired officers. Officer Humphrey was the 2008 Westland Police Officer of the Year. He will be assigned to the Patrol Division as a Shift Supervisor.

New to the Westland Police Department is Neil Egan who graduated with a bachelor's degree from Saginaw Valley University. He worked the past three years for the Hamtramck Police Department. There, he was assigned to their SWAT team. Neil will complete his 40 training/orientation this week and will begin his Field Training Program next week.
