Letter from Laurie

Dear Friend,

Summer is fast approaching and as a Member of the New York City Council Finance Committee, I can tell you that we are working diligently to allocate much-needed capital to support various organizations and institutions across all five boroughs.

We want to ensure that our communities continue to receive vital services that will foster the overall development of men, women, and children.

Our resource guide of summer and year-round opportunities for youth and young adults is near completion. I look forward to sharing these programs shortly.

Thank you to all of you who attended and/or shared the #BringBackOurGirls Rally and Press Conference on Monday May 12, 2014. Together, we took a stand against terrorism, the denial of education to young girls, and human trafficking -- an issue that is prevalent in countries around the world, including the United States.

I hope that you will continue to engage with my office, exchanging ideas and solutions to improve our district, city, and state.

Yours in Partnership,

Laurie A. Cumbo

Member of the New York City Council

Well Wishes
Congratulations to Detective Loanna Cedano of Police Service Area 3 who has been transferred to a new command at the 28th Precinct in Harlem.
A voteless people is a hopeless people. I had a great time kicking off our New York City Council Women's Caucus five borough voter registration drive at Medgar Evers College in Brooklyn. I felt so inspired around youth who wanted to make a difference and learn more about the political process.
After millions of Americans observed Mother's Day, I stood on the steps of City Hall with my colleagues and community advocates, for a #BringBackOurGirls Rally and Press Conference.
