Women in Politics: The Case of India 
Does electing women to political office make any difference? How can women's representation in political office be increased? Lakshmi Iyer, Associate Professor of Business Administration at Harvard Business School, addressed these questions in SAI's last webinar of the semester, with participation from 7 universities in South Asia.

Summer in South Asia
Melissa Theiss, a junior psychology concentrator at Harvard College, will be interning this summer at VidyaGyan, a school for rural underprivileged students in Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh, India, with support from a SAI internship grant. SAI talked to Melissa about her upcoming summer in South Asia and what she hopes to learn.
Romila Thapar discusses historical traditions of North India
On Monday, May 5, SAI hosted a book talk with prominent Indian historian  Romila Thapar about her most recent book,  The Past Before Us: Historical Traditions of Early North India, which is a panoramic survey of the historical traditions of North India. In the book, Thapar reveals a deep and sophisticated consciousness of history embedded in the diverse body of classical Indian literature.

South Asian Poets Meeting
This year's meeting theme is "Matrubhsha" ("Mother Tongue" in Hindi).  Poems in any South Asian or related languages are welcome.  There will be Hindi, Urdu, Bengali, Punjabi, Nepali, Gujarati, Marathi, Tamil, Kannada, Telugu, Malayalam, Kashmiri and Oriya participation.
