Summer is coming to an end, and fall is right around the corner. Take advantage of the cooler days by hiking on a nearby trail, spinning in the Tour de Valley, or flying a kite at Coyner Springs Park. Waynesboro is a charming destination where good nature comes naturally!
Tour de Valley
September 5th


The Tour de Valley Century and Metric Century takes you through 100 miles of scenic and challenging countryside in Augusta and Rockbridge Counties. Starting in Waynesboro's beautiful Ridgeview Park, the course offers abundant mountain, pasture, and river views traveling to Goshen Pass and back. Be a part of this 28-year tradition and come Tour de Valley with us!

Annual Auction
September 12th
 
Fighting fires can be costly work. In order to raise money for equipment and other expenses, the Waynesboro Fire Department is preparing for its annual auction. New and used items are welcome.  New items will be available for auction at 12:00 noon, including a 2004 Ford Escape 4x4 donated by McDonough Toyota.  Some other new items include P. Buckley Moss, Lisa Geiman, and Linda Patrick artwork; an original oil painting by Trudee Smith; a Parker Crossbow; some very nice Virginia Metalcrafters brass items; an HP laptop computer; a 1 ct. pair of diamond earrings; tickets to Dollywood, Alabama Theater and Carolina Opry in Myrtle Beach; gift certificates to Wintergreen, Massanutten, and more.  

Food and drinks will be available for purchase. 
Registration starts at 7:00am, bidding starts at 8:00am.

Waynesboro at War Weekend
September 12th-13th
 
Period craftsmen and artisans will demonstrate the skills and arts of the era. Help make soap, candles or salt. Learn to dance the Virginia Reel. Pitch a game of horseshoes, with real horseshoes, and experience much more.
  
Military reenactors will demonstrate period drill and recreate army life in the field. Learn how infantrymen fired three rounds per minute. Experience the ground-pounding thunder of a cavalry charge. Witness firsthand the explosive power of the artillery.

Civil War themed and 21st century vendors will offer their wares and foodstuffs in "Sutler Square," while generals and politicians from the past regale you with their tales.

Start or end your excursion with a visit to the Virginia Civil War 150 HistoryMobile, free of charge!

Camps open at 9am and battles will be fought at 2pm each day.  A Civil War Dance Social will be open to the public Saturday night.

Admission Fee: $5 per day ages over 11, or $8 for a Two-Day Pass

Virginia Chili, Blues n' Brews Festival
September 19th
If you've been lucky enough to attend this amazing festival before, you ain't seen nothin' yet! Join us for an evening of chili tasting, amazing blues, artisans and exhibitors and micro and mega brews. What better way to top off the festival than with a wide assortment of carefully selected micro and mega brews. Whether it's a local brew or an American classic, you'll understand why we include "Brews" in the name. We award over $2,000 in prize money to the best chili in Virginia, mixed in with HOT, HOT blues including our headliner this year,  Blues Legend Chris Duarte, plus the Best of Virginia Blues!!!

We anticipate nearly 3,000 attendees, which equals a perfect opportunity (and audience) to show off your chili skills! Pro or amateur, we've gotcha covered!

Music starts at 2:30pm and rolls into the night!

South River Rendezvous
September 19th
Join us for this brand-new, yearly event celebrating our local area!

* Presentations on fly fishing the South River
* Conservation and ecology of the South River

Coyner Springs Kite Fly
September 26th
   
Coyner Springs Kite Fly is fun for the young and young-at-heart! Bring your kites and come have a blast flying with other kite lovers. No kite? No worries! We will be giving away over 300 kites! Grab your spot and watch as all sorts of kites fill the sky. Some kiting clubs will be there to show off their moves with stunt and ballet kites and single- and multi-line kites. If the wind is good, the power kites may even come out. Bring your blanket and chairs-there will be plenty to see and do!  Coyner Springs Park 10-3pm.
