Dementia Care Specialist Program - The Department of Health Services (DHS) has announced the expansion of this program. Starting as a pilot in 5 Aging and Disability Resource Centers (ADRC) the program has now been expanded into 11 other ADRCs serving a total of 26 Wisconsin counties. For information on the program and what ADRCs are involved, please read the DHS press release. These specialists should be someone you use as a resource, as a presenter at your session on the Healthy Aging Brain or as a presenter at a follow-up event if your attendees are interested.
Massage Therapy - Massage therapy has a long history in cultures around the world. Today, people use massage therapy for a variety of health-related purposes. In the United States, it is often considered part of complementary and alternative medicine (CAM). Read this article about massages and be sure to celebrate "Every Body Deserves A Massage Week" which is scheduled for July 13 -19.
Summer Sun - We all love the warm weather and sunshine that summer brings. The Vitamin D we can get from the sun is good for our bones. But we need to be careful not to overdo it and protect our skin and eyes. Our article on Ultraviolet Rays will provide you with information and protection ideas.

Children's Eye Health and Safety Month - Most children have healthy eyes. But there are conditions that can threaten good vision. Be sure to schedule an eye exam before school starts. Eye injuries are one of the leading causes of vision loss in children and more than 90 percent of all eye injuries can be prevented through use of suitable protective eyewear.
National Breastfeeding Month - Babies who are exclusively breastfed for six months are less likely to develop ear infections, diarrhea and respiratory illnesses, and may be less likely to develop childhood obesity.
National Immunization Awareness Month - Immunizations help protect us against serious diseases. The United States Department of Health and Family Services has a toolkit that includes immunization schedules for all ages and materials to help promote the month.
Psoriasis Awareness Month - Psoriasis is a chronic, noncontagious, genetic autoimmune disease that appears on the skin in red, scaly patches. It is the most common autoimmune disease in the country.
