Bridge for Success Kicks Off
DBCR's new students register for the 2015 Bridge for Success Program taking place right now.
The new school year has officially begun. On July 27 the doors of DBCR opened wide to welcome our new students to the Bridge for Success Program.  This intensive three-week session prepares all new DBCR students to confidently engage in our college-preparatory curriculum and to enter the corporate workforce. After observing the new students over the past two weeks, Training Specialist Raquel Rodriguez, notes "our new students have come in with a high baseline of professionalism on which they have been able to integrate what they are learning quickly."  Keep an eye out on the Metro this week as our students master using public transportation to commute to their work sites.  You might just see a new DBCR student heading to work!
Your support allows DBCR to offer a life-changing educational opportunity to 400 students this year.  Thank you for sharing your time, talent, and treasure in support of underserved young people.
Our Students Still Need Jobs!
We have 400 students eager to learn and to work for the majority of the cost of their high school education. We need your support in securing the remaining 12 job teams to meet our goal of 90 corporate work teams. As of now, we have 78 teams who are either new or continuing partners. If you know anyone who could employ our students this year and help us achieve our goal of 90 student work teams, please do one of the following:
  • Forward this information to a friend or colleague who could potentially partner with us
  • Contact Kathleen Merlo in Business Development with any leads
  • Share important information about the work-study program on DBCR's website
Thank you for helping us offer this incredible educational and work-study opportunity to so many motivated and deserving students!

A Heavenly Experience on the Sand
DBCR's new President, Fr. Mike Conway, SDB, gathered with friends of Don Bosco Cristo Rey and founding President, V. Rev. Steve Shafran, SDB, to celebrate Mass on July 25th.
Faith, Family, Future, and Fun, the foundations of Don Bosco's charism, were in full view on Saturday, July 25 for the 6th annual Don Bosco Cristo Rey Beach Mass and Picnic.  More than 150 children, young adults, and adults participated in Mass and enjoyed the generous hospitality of Rollin and Lisa Bell.  New DBCR President, Father Mike, celebrated the Mass with founding President, Father Steve, concelebrating.  Thanks to God, the weather was beautiful, the food and drink delicious, and the sense of spiritual community was awesome.
Come Eat With Us
Members of the Class of 2019 are the first to enjoy DBCR's newly renovated Dining Hall.
If you're wondering where all the yummy smells are coming from, look no further than the newly renovated dining hall at Don Bosco Cristo Rey.  Thanks to the generosity of the numerous supporters of DBCR's Secure the Future Capital Campaign, the final touches are being made to the remodeled dining hall and new kitchen; just in time for the school year.  Now 400 hardworking students will enjoy a nutritious hot lunch daily in the comfort of this new facility which will allow many more community and family events to take place.
