NEW: Webinar - New Workplace Protections for, and Inclusion of, Transgender Employees
This is not a PHRA Event.

Date: Thursday, August 20, 2015
Time: 12:00 p.m. - 1:30 p.m.
Location: Online

While many states expressly prohibit discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity, including prohibiting discrimination against transgender employees, federal discrimination laws do not expressly prohibit employment discrimination based on sexual orientation, gender identity or transgender status. Yet federal courts and agencies have been clear: transgender workers are a protected class under Title VII and Title VII's prohibition against discrimination based on sex. The OFCCP also has been directed by the U.S. Department of Labor that under Title VII case law principles, discrimination based on gender identity or transgender status is discrimination based on sex, which federal contractors are barred from.

This webinar offers a practical panel discussion which will include an Administrative Judge from the federal Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, a leading expert on the rights of transgender workers, and one of K&L Gates' management side advice and litigation partners who advises employers on work place practices and avoiding discrimination claims.

As a manager it is important to appreciate the importance of a connection with employees. The goal of a manager should be to lead a productive, motivated team towards meeting both company and employee goals. Every manager has his own management style, but does this style address employee expectations and provide motivation for today and for the future? Failure to motivate can limit employee potential resulting in an unproductive workforce and the inability to meet organizational goals. Successful motivation can unleash that potential.

Participate in HR Research for a Start-Up

Dear Human Resource Leadership,

I am running a small startup company, from research developed at Carnegie Mellon, and I need 30 minutes of your time.

The product is made to help HR managers and leaders better run a company's organizational behavior using data analytics tools. (For example, we have a working algorithm that highlights people at high risk of leaving a company.) My team is designing the user experience for the product and we could use your help. We need experts in the HR field to lend their wisdom when designing how our system works. Would you be willing to give 30 minutes to help a local technology startup looking to solve problems in the HR world?

Contact me directly so we can make an appointment: [email protected] - we prefer in person (and will bring coffee and donuts!) but can also interview over the phone.

Thanks in advance for your time,

Will Lutz

PHRA Vendor Directory

Each month, more than 1,100 HR Professionals turn to the PHRA website in the course of their work. Many of these professionals are searching for products and services to help them approach their jobs more effectively.  As a valued PHRA member we would like to offer you two months free with the purchase of a 12 month posting on the NEW PHRA Vendor Directory.

The PHRA Vendor Directory is a searchable, on-line tool for product and service referrals within the field of HR available to both members and non-members. Any company or individual may purchase a listing.

The directory is a listing of your company and contact information in up to two out of twenty five areas of HR product and service specialization. Listings are accessible to anyone and may be searched by the product/service category.
