Studio Oll�n consists of Ruben and Wendy Perez who operate their workshop and showroom out of their home in Modesto.
Ruben, ex-cabinet maker and graduate of the Institute of Fine Arts in Mexico City, brings a talented and disciplined esthetic to any of his woodwork, music, dance and jewelry making endeavors.
Wendy, former teacher, has studied weaving, painting and jewelry making, working with artists such as master weaver Jesus Maria Martinez, artist Adolfo Riestra and spiritualist Sara Ainsworth. Specializing in black coral, amber and mother of pearl,
Ruben and Wendy work with raw materials, to create artistic, one-of-a-kind pieces of jewelry. Their use of other natural stones enhances and gives each piece a special totem property. "Wendy's Fantasy" pieces are a mix of playfulness and combine new, old and a variety of materials.
They chose the name Oll�n
(meaning "movement" in nahuatl, an ancient Mexican dialect) having always felt the influence of its symbol and as a reminder that the only constant in life is change. Recently returned from a month-long stay in various parts of Mexico, they have created a new collection with materials from there.
