Canada's Prostitution Laws Ruled Unconstitutional by Supreme Court: Implications for Social Service Provision in the Forest City Moving Forward

Thursday, March 6th, 6 - 8 p.m. in Stevenson & Hunt Room, London Central Public Library

This year, with the support of King's University College School of Social Work, and generous sponsorship provided by OASW Western Branch Board of Directors, BSW and MSW students are pleased to present an engaging event, open to the London community.

Recently, the Supreme Court struck down Canada's prostitution laws as unconstitutional and granted Parliament one year in which to develop a new legal regime to govern the sex trade. The Supreme Court's decision made it quite clear that the current approach is not protecting extremely vulnerable women and sex workers within our community. This moderated panel presentation will highlight the importance in our profession of understanding current social issues and social policies that impact the lives of our clients, and the broader community, each day.
