September Meeting Extras

Summer Postcard Exchange

Have you sent at least three cards to your Secret Postcard Pal? If not, better hurry! Don't forget to send a final card to let your pal know (or help them guess) who you are!

Bring the cards you received to the September meeting for the display table, and meet up with your Secret Pals, the one you sent to and the one you received cards from. We'll also have "sharing time" during the meeting so others can hear about the fun we had.

See you there! Sue Agnew

After-meeting Postcard Contest Salon - FREE

You're invited! 12:30 - 2:30 pm. Mabel Dean has put together a fascinating salon to help you design your PW 15th Anniversary Postal Contest entries. Featuring multiple handouts and quick 'n' easy walk-through of trace-cut-paste. You'll walk out with the tools you need to create a postmark design. In addition you'll get ideas for creating a simple image for the postage stamp and for the cachet.   What to bring: scissors, gluestick, pencil, ruler, eraser.

Reserve your place: RSVP Mabel by Tues., Sept. 8: [email protected]

A summer dry-run to perfect the techniques garnered these testimonials:
"Mabel's salon is a great way to jump-start ideas for new designs, and is especially helpful for creating ideas for the call to artists for our PaperWorks commemorative stamp! I had been feeling overwhelmed by the size of the project, with its three different components. This salon helped simplify the entire process, and offered ways to proceed that seemed logical and do-able for me! Try it and find out for yourself!" Mary Ellen Palmeri
"Thanks to Mabel's insight and examples I now have a clearer idea of this project. Please consider attending her workshop on Sept. 10." Carol Morgan

Welcome back to PaperWorks and the fall creative season! At the fall meeting, we'll start right in with a display of our summer postcards, sign-ups for Creative Circles, and hear about upcoming workshops and opportunities. Hope you have had a summer full of exploration and discovery!

Oops - we meant to include them in the last newsletter! See the end of this column to enjoy Anita Rankin's photos from the summer exhibit at the Poetry Center.

We've listened to your suggestions and done lots of planning during spring and summer, and a full array of Workshops and Paper Play information will be posted shortly. The PW Board is excited about the breadth and depth of artists, our own members and other local and visiting artists - all are ready to inspire you through small-group experiences and guidance.
