HOSTOS GOLF OUTING RAISES RECORD AMOUNT FOR STUDENTS

Our 8th Annual Scholarship Fund Golf Outing raised a record $92,109 for student scholarships and services!

The event took place on September 19 under sunny skies at Pelham Bay and Split Rock Golf Courses in the Bronx and drew 115 golfers. Hostos students also hit the links, joining our corporate sponsors, individual supporters, and members of the College's faculty and staff. The mentorship that experienced golfers provided for our students made this a great experience for all involved.

The day would not have been complete without a little friendly competition, both on and off the course. Contests for longest drive, closest to the pin, and lowest team score were joined by several raffle challenges. A special online raffle was introduced this year, giving supporters who could not attend an opportunity to join in the fun. We are delighted to report that $11,341 was raised through the raffles, with $2,980 collected online. This new component helped us to raise $6,771 more than last year's raffle contests.

We congratulate all the raffle and golf contest winners! For a list of all the winners click here.

The 8th Annual Scholarship Fund Golf Outing was such an extraordinary success because of the generous support of our main sponsors-Barnes & Noble, JFD Office Interiors and Konica Minolta -our other corporate sponsors, our golfers, dinner attendees, and everyone who contributed. Please enjoy these
photos and video from the event, and although it is one year away, we look forward to having you join us at our 9th Annual Scholarship Fund Golf Outing to keep this wonderful tradition of giving going strong.

HOSTOS' STEVEN DELGADO LEAVES A LASTING LEGACY AT HOSTOS

Steven Delgado (center) stands with Hostos President Felx V. Matos Rodrguez and Senior Vice President of Administration and Finance Esther Rodrguez-Chardavoyne on July 30 in the A-Atrium during a celebration of Delgado's long career at the college.

Steven Delgado, Hostos' longtime Associate Dean of Campus Planning Operations and former Assistant Dean of Campus Planning Operations, is calling it a career.

Because Delgado started working at Hostos in June of 1970, he literally watched the College grow up. Now, as the College is enjoying a period of unprecedented growth, Delgado is retiring. But thankfully, he is staying on temporarily to assist in the transition of his replacement.

Delgado began his long tenure at the College as a laboratory technician in the Natural Sciences Department. From there he advanced to other roles, including the Assistant Director of General Institutional Services, Director of Facilities and Campus Planning, and Director of General Institutional Services.

Overseeing the College's largest capital projects, Delgado was instrumental in the renovation of the 500 Building and other structures. As the College's Chief Facilities Officer, he also helped to prepare, develop and disseminate the College's multi-million dollar budget as a member of President's Flix V. Matos Rodrguez's extended cabinet.

An organization's heart and soul resides with its people. The leaders and pioneers who founded Hostos Community College and created its mission 45 years ago certainly understood that people mattered.

We hope you enjoy 45 Voices, Celebrating 45 Years, a commemorative project that showcases just some of the many incredible individuals that make Hostos the diverse, strong and unique institution that it is.
