But What If You Get Hit By That Bus?
What you should know about succession planning
Geoffrey Canada, who is leaving the Harlem Children's Zone, spent 2+ years preparing his successor.

We've all heard the morbid expression about the sinister bus inclined to run you over unexpectedly - meant to elicit fear in professionals and inspire them to create a comprehensive succession plan. And while many of us underestimate the importance of our role, or are hard-pressed to find time to document our day-to-day responsibilities, planning for a change in leadership is just as important and valuable as any other planning your organization does.

So check out some recent articles, quotes, trainings, and resources related to succession planning to help motivate you ...  Read more.

NFF 'State of the Sector' Survey Closes Tomorrow

Every year, the Nonprofit Finance Fund (NFF) captures the challenges facing nonprofits nationwide through their State of the Sector survey. They share the results with policy makers, advocates, funders, nonprofits, and media to put data to use to create social change. You can view results from last year's survey here.

NFF's nonprofit survey asks about your organization's financial and management challenges and opportunities in 2013 and 2014. It takes only 10-15 minutes to fill out, and all responses remain anonymous. Take the survey now.

The Massachusetts Nonprofit Network wants to make sure your voice is heard. Join us for a candid discussion during which we will solicit your ideas for initiatives that strengthen and protect the entire sector.

These free events start next week and will take place throughout the state. They are open to anyone interested in learning more about, or helping to form, a state nonprofit public policy agenda that strengthens our sector.
