Westlake Welcomes New Police Chief
Our police service provider, the City of Keller, has a new police chief so that means Westlake does too! Congratulations to Michael Wilson, a 14 year veteran with the Keller Police Department. We welcome Wilson as our new police chief here in Westlake!

After nearly five years with Haltom City Police Department, Wilson joined Keller police force in 2001 and climbed the ranks from an officer to corporal, to sergeant, and then to lieutenant by 2010. He became captain in 2013 when the department?s three lieutenants? classifications were upgraded to reflect their duties.

Wilson has worked Patrol, Community Services, taught the D.A.R.E program, and since February 2010, he has commanded Keller PD?s Support Services division. In that role, Wilson was in charge of overseeing personnel hiring and training, fleet services and accreditation programs as well as Regional Animal Services, the Regional Animal Adoption Center and the Regional Jail.

Westlake Academy New Residency and Admission Policy Amendment Update
Recently, the Board of Trustees updated our residency policy (1.01) for those seeking admissions to Westlake Academy.  After December 31, 2015, any family who applies for admission to the school must reside within the town boundaries in order to apply for admission as a primary boundary resident.

Please note: a building permit will no longer qualify as a conditional residency category for admissions to the school while constructing a home in Westlake. Please click here for effective date information and more details.

    Fight the Bight!
Mosquito season is upon us so let's remain proactive and "fight the bight!" A recent report by Tarrant County Public Health lists seven mosquito pools that have tested positive for West Nile Virus. Cities with positive mosquito pools include: Fort Worth (4), Richland Hills (1), Unincorporated (2).

In Denton County, Trophy Club and Little Elm each have one pool that has tested positive for WNV.

Please remember to dump out water in containers around the yard. Come by Westlake Town Hall for free mosquito dunks to put in stagnant water that cannot be drained. For more information, click here to access our Public Works Department's web page with helpful links about West Nile Virus.

Tarrant County Holds Town Hall Meetings Scheduled for Hospital District Bond Program
The Tarrant County Commissioners Court and the Tarrant County Hospital District (the "District") are hosting five Town Hall Meetings to receive comments from county residents on a plan to update and expand John Peter Smith Hospital. The plan consists of three major components: construction of a patient hospital tower with accompanying parking garage; construction of a psychiatric hospital; and renovation of existing facilities.

John Peter Smith Hospital serves as the county's public hospital under the direction of the District's Board of Managers, which is appointed by the Commissioners Court. The planned improvements are the result of a strategic facilities utilization plan begun in March 2010, using input from physician groups and other affected stakeholders. The improvements will expand and upgrade facilities to meet the District's mission in providing quality health care for Tarrant County residents. Please join the District at any one (or all) of these meetings. You can also view the proposed plan by going to www.jpshealthnet.org/bonds
