Saturday
- Nov. 2 – Beat the Blues |
7 am Pacific / 9 am Central / 10 am Eastern / 11 am Atlantic |
Saturday, November 2nd -
Beat the Blues*. Everyone has experienced depression at one time or another. Someone who is depressed has feelings of sadness or anxiety that can last for weeks or months at a time. Depression is a very real condition for many millions of people around the globe. A difficult situation such as a natural disaster, the loss of a loved one or financial distress is enough to trigger a mild or even deep depression. Yogi Bhajan once said, ‘If you look at all the disease in the world, it is just depression.’
The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) defines depression as a disorder which profoundly impairs the ability of a person to function in everyday situations by affecting thoughts, mood and physical well being (for a period of two weeks). The National Institute for Mental Health claims that depression strikes more American adults each year than cancer, AIDS or heart disease. In all of these situations yogis would say that the human body ‘cannot cope with the need of the time and circumstance.’
So, how can you or someone you love ‘beat the blues?’ Besides being a treatable medical condition there are other ways to alleviate symptoms of mild depression.
On this special call with Shakta you’ll learn how:
-- to help yourself if you feel depressed
-- the technology of sound or Naad can affect the body, mind and spirit
-- meditation is a daily tool used to prevent and alleviate mild depression
-- to use bananas, dates and orange juice to create ‘Depression Buster Juice,’ plus
-- four yogic techniques to help you 'beat the blues.'
You’ll also learn
about KYL's two upcoming Kumdalini Yoga Teacher Training
courses (Chicago begins Jan. 2014/ Prince Edward Island, CN,
begins April 2014). Teacher Training is an
earned destiny which ... -- provides a direct, internal experience of yoga and meditation -- orients your mind toward its proper role as your ‘servant’
-- stops the repetition of past errors and patterns -- invokes your intuition, and
-- makes your life easier.

October Theme... The Power of 10
KYL’s 10th
Anniversary Month
|
The number 10 in Kundalini Yoga is the dynamic ‘all or nothing’ number! And, the number ‘10’ is our focus during the month of October because this is the month that KYL celebrates its 10 year anniversary in The Fine Arts Building!
All classes during October focus on the 10th Body also known as the Radiant Body. The Radiant Body is just one of your ten bodies.* It represents your spiritual royalty and strength. Your 10th Body makes you courageous in the face of any obstacle. You exert a magnetic presence and command the respect of all who know you. And, you maintain that victorious spirit in spite of what may be occurring outside of you!
Come celebrate with KYL during October to... -- recognize your inner nobility
-- enhance your radiance and royal courage
-- develop your stamina and energy plus
-- increase your ability to come through in all situations!
* The 10 Bodies are the yogic description of what the perfected human being looks like and acts like. The 10 Bodies are the Soul Body, Negative Mind, Positive Mind, Neutral Mind, Physical Body, Arcline, Aura, Pranic Body, Subtle Body and Radiant Body. The 10 Bodies
form a technical break-down of how the different parts of the psyche--the 10 bodies--work.

Release Your Fears
Conference Call with Shakta
Recording Available! |
If you missed last
month's conference call with Shakta you can still ‘release your fears’ by listening to the call recording. On this call Shakta defines ‘fear’ and shares that fear comes in degrees from mild caution to extreme phobia and even paranoia. She explained a little about the neurobiology of fear and also named some of the most common fears—both external and internal.
Shakta also shared a meditation that we practiced on this call with her. She suggested that we begin with 3 minutes a day and eventually work up to the recommended time of 11 minutes a day for 40 days to change or break our fear ‘habit.’ About this particular meditation Yogi Bhajan said it would help you gain a secure sense of yourself and release subconscious fears—once and for all!
Finally, details about the Chicago, IL, USA and Prince Edward Island (PEI), Canada, Level 1 Teacher Training courses that begin in 2014 were discussed. Teacher Training itself is a powerful technology to help release subconscious fears. Shakta encouraged everyone on the call to consider ‘gifting’ themselves with this course in 2014!

challenge, transformation and upliftment! |
“If you become your own teacher, prosperity will be there. Good things and good ideas will come to you.” --Yogi Bhajan
Registration is now open for KYL’s 13th Level 1 Course
- the Aquarian Teacher, Kundalini Yoga Teacher Training as taught by Yogi Bhajan. We begin
on January 17 and end on August 17, 2014. Teacher Training at KYL is always a beautiful personal journey of growth, challenge, transformation and upliftment!
Why Kundalini Yoga Teacher Training?
Kundalini means ‘awareness.’ Awareness is the active interaction of you as a finite individual identity with you as an Infinite potential identity! This dormant energy of awareness is in you. And, Kundalini Yoga is the supreme technology to take you to your Original, Best and Highest Self!
Drop Frustrating Patterns.
As you move through the Teacher Training course you will grow. Like a snake you will shed old skins to become more of who you really are. You will learn to examine your attitudes, behaviors and emotional habits. All your frustrating ‘demoting’ habits will come to the surface to be acknowledged, blessed and sent on their way! You will gain new perspectives and capacities. You will develop ‘promoting’ habits to support your expanded awareness.
The Number ‘8’
KYL’s Chicago course is 8 weekends over 8 months.
The number ‘8’ is quite significant. It has many different properties and meanings all over the world.
--In China the number ‘8’ represents the totality of the universe.
--Eight was the number of balance and the cosmic order according to the Egyptians.
--The Greeks taught that there were eight divisions of the sky.
--In Hebrew the number 8 is Sh’moneh meaning ‘super abundance.’
--There are 8 arms of Vishnu and 8 forms of Shiva.
--Sage Patanjali codified the teachings of yoga that we know today as the ‘8 Limbs of Yoga.’
--The ‘Prayer of Saint Francis of Assisi’ (‘Lord, make me an instrument of peace’...) contains 8 requests.
--And, in mathematics the symbol of Infinity is represented by the number ‘8’ laid down--the ‘Infinity Loop.’
Aura.
In Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan there are 8 Chakras or energy centers of the body. Seven Chakras correspond with the physical body and the 8th Chakra is the aura. The aura is both your protection and your projection. In Teacher Training you’ll learn how to augment your aura, attract positivity and repel negativity!
Pranic Body.
The number 8 in Kundalini Yoga is also associated with the Pranic Body. Prana is the life force that you breathe in on the air. It continuously brings energy into your system. The Pranic Body allows you to feel fearless, fully alive and at one with creation. In Teacher Training you learn to renew your energy and tap into your self-motivation so that you have more than enough vitality to enjoy life and achieve your goals!
Owner’s Manual.
The techniques that you learn during this 8 month course form an ‘owner’s manual’ for human consciousness. Everyone needs a technical know-how to get the best from the body, mind and spirit. That technical know-how is called ‘Kundalini Yoga Teacher Training.’
Through your own practice and discipline you will go beyond mere intellectual knowledge. You experience with your own heart and being your Original, Best and Highest Self. That is how, as Yogi Bhajan says, all ‘good things and good ideas will come to you!’
Tuition: $3,200 (until
11/16/2013) - $500 down - Payment Plans Available ($3,400
tuition)

New Moon - October 4
11 Days After - October 15
Full Moon - October 18
(Above Dates Adjusted for Central Time Zone)
|
New Moon
The New Moon is when you are at your lowest...energy-wise. It is
a good day to fast on lemon and water. Fast from sun-up until the
next morning at breakfast, when you "break" the "fast."
Waxing Moon
... is the time between the New Moon and the day before the Full
Moon. During this time the energy of the body moves into your higher
centers (chakras). This is the time to bring new things, new people
or new relationships into your life or to accelerate the progress
of your special projects.
11 Days After
New Moon
Yogi Bhajan taught that this is the day when you are in balance.
The glandular system readjusts itself on this day. Your metabolism
is changing, so if you eat very lightly (green foods) or if you
live just on water and lemon today, your health will be perfect.
Eat very lightly during the day. Eat only one meal and drink lemon
and water the rest of the day.
Full Moon
You are naturally accelerated on a full moon. You are at your highest
energy level. The secretions in your body will be at their maximum,
so you don't want your energy being used to consume food. Save your
energy to reconstruct yourself. Try to drink only liquids on this
day. If you feel you must eat, drink only milk. (But, don't drink
cold milk right out of the refrigerator. Milk should be brought
to a boil. Allow the milk to foam up and then bring the heat down
so the milk is on a slow boil for 5-10 minutes. While cooking it,
you may add a pinch of ground turmeric, a pinch of black pepper,
a cinnamon stick, or a few pinches of ginger to reduce any mucous
causing side effect.)
Waning Moon
... is the time between the Full Moon and the day before the New
Moon. This is the best time to remove things, relationships or situations
from your life that no longer serve you. It is not generally thought
of as the best time to start a new project.

A Thought From Yogi Bhajan
"
You are born to relate to the future. You are born to relate to the silence that can speak to you, that calmness that can stir you to infinity, that radiance that can give you absolute selflessness.
