Resonance Knowledge Exchange: Bridging Research & Business for the Advancement of Neuroscience in India: A collaboration between MIT, Harvard, and IIT Delhi
 
The goal of this initiative is to introduce talented Indian students to the exciting gamut of brain science. 25 highly talented students from across India have been chosen following a highly competitive selection process to participate in a two-week immersion workshop that will allow them to explore some of the most exciting research topics in neuroscience. The students will be coached by Venkatesh Murthy, Professor of Molecular & Cellular Biology at Harvard University, and Pawan Sinha, Professor of Vision & Computational Neuroscience at MIT and six post docs from Harvard and MIT. June 24-July 5, 2013.

This summer, SAI funded several student internship and research opportunities. Here are just a few examples: 

Erum Sattar, (
HLS) will intern at the 
Aman Foundation in Karachi, Pakistan.

The Aman Foundation, a social sector enterprise pursuing development in Pakistan in the areas of health, education, and capacity building, funds Summer Research and Social Entrepreneurship Interns for its office in Karachi, Pakistan. Read more about the Aman Foundation here.

 

Shengxi Li, Harvard College class of 2015 will intern at Bangladesh Legal Aid & Services Trust, Dhaka, Bangladesh.

BLAST is one of the largest legal services organizations in Bangladesh, operating in over nineteen districts. This summer, with funding support from SAI, Li will assist BLAST in its missionBLAST has certain unique features as a legal services organization. First, it assists both women and men. Second, it undertakes extensive criminal defense work and has a considerable specialization in labour law, in addition to expertise on family and land law. BLAST is the only NGO able to provide access to legal aid across the spectrum from the frontlines of the formal justice system to the apex court. Read more here.


Victoria Gu, Harvard College class of 2015 wil intern at Jana Care, Bangalore, India.
Jana Care is simplifying diabetes by combining frugal engineering with human-centered design around the most ubiquitous device out there - the mobile phone. At Jana Care, Gu will work on the data analysis engine behind their online and mobile platform that educates Indians on how to live healthier and by doing so considerably reduce their risk of diabetes. Summer Film Series
Beginning with Amar Akbar Anthony on June 27, 2013 5:30 pm, SAI will showcase a series of films this summer from June through August Amar Akbar Anthony is a 1977 Bollywood film about three brothers who were separated during childhood and who grew up in three separate homes, adopting different religions. The film was directed by Manmohan Desai and features Amitabh Bachchan, Vinod Khanna, and Rishi Kapoor. Amar Akbar Anthony was the biggest blockbuster of 1977 and won several Filmfare awards.
