Los Angeles Public Library Pilots New Learning Program

 

The horizon of opportunity for adults who left high school without a diploma is expanding. Los Angeles Public Library is piloting a new program in partnership with Gale Cengage Learning and the nation's first online accredited school district, Smart Horizons Career Online Education. A projected 150 adults will receive "scholarships" to participate in a structured online instructional program that will result in an accredited high school diploma. Find out more.

Richard Reyes-Gavilan, Chief Librarian of Brooklyn Public Library is the newly appointed Executive Director of D.C. Public Library; he takes up his position in March.

 

Gerry Garzn is officially the Director of Library Services for the City of Oakland, CA at the Oakland Public Library, having served in an interim capacity since December 2012.

 

Marcia Learned Au, CEO/Director of the Evansville Vanderburgh Public Library, IN  is the new President of the Indiana Library Federation.
