Goodie Box Stuffing, Success!

A huge "THANK YOU" goes out to all parents who participated in the fall goodie box stuffing for your students! With over 80 parents in attendance we were able to successfully stuff and deliver over 650 goodie boxes filled with delicious treats for your students in one hour!

Goodie box stuffing could not be done without our volunteers, so please know how much we appreciate you!

Goodie Box Pick Up Information

One of the benefits of your Parent Association membership is that your student gets to enjoy a complimentary box of goodies during finals week! Here is what you need to know for your student to get their box:

If your student lives on campus...

If your student lives off campus...

They should receive a note from the residence hall staff telling them their goodie box is waiting for them at the front desk of their residence hall. We have asked students to pick up their boxes by Friday, December 6, 2013.

Boxes not collected by that date will be moved to the Office of Orientation and Transition Programs, which includes Parent Programs, (STUB 155). If your student misses their box at the residence hall, they can collect one from our office.

Since Monday, November 25, students have been able to stop by our office in STUB 155 between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. (Monday-Friday) to pick up their goodie box. We only deliver to residence halls. All Greek housing, surrounding homes and apartments are considered off campus. Please let your student know. You are our only way of passing this information along to off campus students.

Congratulations to all December Graduates

Thanksgiving Bus Trip

Our first ever Thanksgiving Bus Trip was a success and 80 of our UNT students were able to travel home and back to UNT for the break. We made stops in Austin, Houston, and San Antonio. We look forward to serving these cities again next year.

When Your Student Graduates in December

"Although we often still refer to a "four year degree," five years has now become closer to the national average for many students to complete a bachelor's degree. There are many factors that can contribute to extra time needed, and for some students the time frame is much more realistic. However, there are also a growing number of students who complete their degree in less than the traditional four years. Some of these students who take either fewer or more than four years may be looking at a December graduation." - College Parents of America

Official Notice about Inclement Weather

UNT will close at 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 5, and will remain closed Friday, Dec. 6 due to inclement weather. The closure affects all offices, libraries and classes. WebCT classes and online testing will continue as scheduled.

We will make every attempt to make a decision about the possible need to remain closed on Saturday as early as possible.

Your safety is always our primary concern. Closing a university for weather conditions is always a difficult call, especially near the end of the semester. I know this closure can interfere with the learning process so I hope that faculty and students will find ways to continue their studies at this time so courses can be completed successfully.

Any changes in test schedules or project deadlines for individual classes will be communicated by faculty via e-mail or Blackboard.

For updates about continued closures or delayed openings, visit UNT.edu, @unteaglealert on Twitter or Facebook.com/NorthTexas.

And please be careful during these difficult weather conditions.

Sincerely,

V. Lane Rawlins

President
