Congregational Meeting Sunday, March 30
|
Important Information regarding Congregational Meeting March 30, 2014 immediately following worship (Parents, please keep your children with you so Sunday School teachers are able to attend the meeting):
This Sunday, immediately following worship, a congregational meeting will be held to elect a Pastor Search Committee (PSC). Per our Book of Order (11-5A), this committee of the congregation will be formed through the presentation of a slate of nominees for approval from the Church Session to the congregation. This slate may be received in full or part and be added to from the floor on the morning of the meeting.
The slate the Session is presenting comes from nominations made by the congregation over the past two weeks. It was wonderful to have so many nominations. Frankly, everyone nominated would have been an asset to this committee, however a 30 person committee is simply too cumbersome. Therefore, following presbytery recommendations, the Session, through prayer and discussion, narrowed the field to seven persons: two active elders and five at large members. Together these persons represent a variety of demographics in our church in regards to life stage and ministry involvement. Each of these people regularly attends worship, actively participates in Sunday school and is involved in at least one ministry of the church. The slate offered to the congregation by the Session is: Active Elders - Bill Franklin and Henry Salmon; at-large members - Dan Drake, Nancy Hale, Mark Jonah, Mary LeTourneau, and Suzi White.
If you care to nominate someone from the floor on Sunday please be advised that the nominee must be present at the meeting, have been contacted and agreed to serve prior to the meeting, and must have a second to their nomination. If there are floor nominations those names will be added to the ballot. The congregation will then vote on the size of the PSC. After determining the size, we will proceed to a ballot election of the members of the PSC.

REJOICE IN THE LORD ALWAYS.
I WILL SAY IT AGAIN: REJOICE!
Installation into the EPC April 6, 2014 @ 9:30am Worship with the Lord's Supper
Last February at a regularly scheduled meeting of the Presbytery of the West, EPC Longview was received into full membership of the EPC. Consequently on April 6, 2014 during the Sunday morning worship service, we will be installed as a full member of the EPC. A commission of representatives from the Presbytery of the West will join our staff in leading worship so that as one body we may rejoice over that which God is doing in our church and our denomination. Please plan on attending this great milestone in the life of our congregation.
Following Sunday School we will have a potluck reception in Trinity Hall to conclude our celebration, so get those sides and desserts ready and let's show these Coloradans some down-home Texas hospitality!
