Sweet Sweet Spring!

Purple is a year round color but it's never so right as it is for spring. This week we offer you the color in every which way you like it. Knits and wovens, in cotton, rayon and linen, and touching upon a wide array of shades and hues.

We have not neglected our non- purple participating public however. We also have offerings of some really fab knit duos and trios that are sure to please. Take a look at Storyboard as well, the colors are pleasing, and the hand is delicious as are all of our knits from France. If you like the color blocking trend, then definitely check out the latest edition of the Sew inFashion blog and Color Block Pinterest boards too.

viscose jersey trio

Our favorite viscose/elastane jersey knit from France, offered here in an array of colors for your choosing. Smooth rocks in shades of coral, taupe and soft brown with shadow accents in peche tumble over an ivory ground. The moderate scale of this print makes it very user-friendly for tops to team with solids in fashion colors or neutrals.

Available in three colorways: Coral/Taupe, Gray/Taupe, and Aquamint/Taupe.

Fast Forward
viscose jersey print

We are in awe of the designer who created this print. The motion of the design is breathtaking. Bright colors stream through a dynamic squiggle and dot formation accented with black. Multi-colored flares appear randomly for added excitement. The digitally printed fabrication is our favorite viscose/elastane from France. Choose your favorite top or dress pattern and let the print do the rest. We loved this print so much we bought both colors.

Available in Violet and Cerise colorways.

Monterey
cotton satin stretch

Time to think about dresses and skirts for sunny days. This mid-scale floral in bright springtime tones will work for many different patterns. Consider Fit and Flare dresses or skirts that bell from a fitted waist. The cotton satin is finely woven and soft to the hand. A touch of stretch is added for comfort. Blossoms in shades of aquamarine, deep lavender and gentian blue are surrounded by warm green foliage on a clear white ground.
Melissa
cotton print

Clusters of amorphous blossoms wander down the length of this cotton satin. Perfect for dresses or skirts, this print features true turquoise, soft magenta, blue sage, and deep violet on a muted lavender ground. The lightweight cotton has a little drape making it especially well-suited for fit-and-flare dresses or skirts with a bit of fullness.
Pfeiffer Beach
rayon linen textured stripe

It's all about texture in this stunning fabrication originally milled for Anna Sui. Crosswise woven stripes of chenille yarns in varying widths show off the drape of this rayon/linen blend. Purplish periwinkle most accurately describes the shade of the fabric. We envision dresses, tops or skirts that fall softly from the shoulders or waist.
African Violet
cotton spandex jersey

This true purple color is stunning for year-round wear. For those who love cotton, this jersey knit will be your go-to top. Deeply saturated in color, soft in hand and stable for styling, you'll be happy with this choice for tops or dresses
Roman Candle
viscose elastane jersey

We know you'll be pleased with the quality of this jersey knit from Italy. The hand is incredibly soft, but substantial and the design is sophisticated with a whimsical note. The printing is exquisite featuring shades of forest and mint green, deep violet and plum with accents of earthy bronze and black on a slightly creamy white ground. This viscose/elastane fabrication is perfect for dresses or tops.
Wildflower
rayon batik

Softened turquoise and muted mint green tangle with violet purple on a blue/black ground. The happy dance of stemmed florals gives this print a lightheartedness that will work well for spring/summer wardrobes. Rayon batik makes up well in anything requiring a little drape and wears incredibly comfortably in warm weather.

 with Maryjo
with insights from Jennifer Stern

From Maryjo: If you have finished your practice zipper and are happy with your muslin fit and made all of the adjustments from the muslin to the pattern, then it is time to cut out your jeans material!!!!

Don't forget that some of your pattern pieces will be cut out from a contrasting fabric of your choice. I chose an India-inspired elephant patterned fabric.
