DR. DAVID GÓMEZ NAMED PRESIDENT OF 
 HOSTOS COMMUNITY COLLEGE

 
The Board of Trustees of The City University of New York has appointed Dr. David Gómez, a distinguished academic leader, teacher and experienced administrator, as the President of Hostos Community College. Dr. Gómez has served as Interim President of Hostos for the past year.
 
HOSTOS OPENS COLLEGE'S FIRST LARGE
FARMERS MARKET WITH GROWNYC

 
With a shortage of fresh fruit and vegetables being a major concern for Bronxites who are looking to live more healthy lifestyles, Hostos partnered with GrowNYC to open a large farmers market at the College. The "Hostos Greenmarket" opened on June 30, and it is a first on campus. The market is open every Tuesday, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., through November 24.

HOSTOS TWO-GENERATION PROGRAM BLOOMS INTO SOMETHING SPECIAL FOR STUDENT-PARENTS
 
In 2014, Hostos Community College recognized the importance of supporting student-parents and the power of summer classwork. Thanks to a $50,000 donation from the Aspen Institute Ascend Fund, a new pilot summer program was born. 
 
STUDENTS' SUMMER SACRIFICE AND HARD WORK CELEBRATED THROUGH CITI PROGRAM

Pursuing higher education goals often requires sacrifice, both in time and finances.

This commitment was celebrated on August 4, when the accomplishments of 47 Hostos students were recognized at the second annual Student Financial Literacy and Retention Program Celebration.

The  Hostos Student Leadership Academy  is keeping busy this summer as members are volunteering their time, both on campus and in the surrounding communities.



Hostos alumni Haile Rivera has stayed very busy since earning his AAS Degree in Public Policy & Administration in 2003. In addition to pursuing higher education degrees, he has worked with several prominent elected officials in all levels of government, including serving on President Obama's Transition Team in Washington, DC.
