Troop 3749 Donation for Leukemia Research
As Junior Troop 3749 began thinking about their Girl Scout Cookie Program goals, one idea quickly rose to the top, Connor's Heroes, a local non-profit dedicated to childhood leukemia research.  This has been a difficult year for one of the girls of this troop, whose little brother was diagnosed with childhood leukemia. The girls hope their money, while modest, can make a big difference to other children battling this disease.

Did you ever want to know what happens at the GSCV Headquarters or what it looks like? All you have to do is schedule a tour through your local membership consultant.   

 

Troop 5266 was recently given a tour of the council office by their Membership Consultant, Leslie Cross. The girls and leaders met CEO Molly Fuller (pictured right) and got a sneak peek of the 2016 Girl Scout Cookie Program from the Product Sales Department. GSCV staff hope to see many more girl and adult faces in the coming months!
Troop 5107 Bird Nest Boxes
Troop 5107 Donates Eastern Bluebird Nest Boxes
The girls of Troop 5107 decided to use a portion of their Girl Scout Cookie Program proceeds to buy the supplies to build Eastern Bluebird nest boxes after learning the population has declined due to habitat loss and the introduction of aggressive, invasive species.  The nest boxes were donated to Echo Lake Elementary School in Glen Allen, VA as part of the TAP for the "Roots and Shoots" badge.  The girls will monitor the boxes during future nesting seasons and report the findings to the Cornell Lab of Ornithology's Project Nestwatch. Way to go girls!
