If you are a product representative, you know that you should be doing much more than selling, but where do you begin? Becoming a trusted advisor in the construction industry is a big step, and CSI has you covered with their new Trusted Advisor Program. I'm sure many of you have attended the webinars offered by the Institute; I know that I have and have learned much in the process. I'm excited to be attending the Trusted Advisors Workshop in Denver. NW Region Conference 2014:
Bridges to the Future

The Northwest Region Conference will convene soon in early May. I hope you have made your plans to attend this exciting event as it looks to be as entertaining as it will be informative with a variety of presentations and events sure to pique the interest of all attendees.

Easy transit

The NWRC occurring at the Portland Hilton, in the heart of Portland, has the added benefit of close proximity to the transit mall just outside and the ease of light rail from the Portland Airport to the front door of the venue.

Industry Forum kicks off conference on Thursday

The Portland Chapter CSI annual "Industry Forum" occurs Thursday  at the Portland Art Museum (a few blocks walking distance from the Hilton) and adds an exciting and fun premier kick-off event for even more variety to start the this year's NWRC.

Portland has much to offer visitors

Just two blocks away is Portland's 'living room' is Pioneer Square at the city's core surrounded by the city's best retail stores making it a vibrant place to be or kick off your tour of the greater Portland metropolitan area by light rail or bus. The Portland Zoo is a short and easy ride by light rail to the zoo station deep under the west hills, where you actually disembark underground beneath the Zoo and take an elevator up to the Zoo entrance. It is a piece of cake to get there and back - four short Portland blocks total for the round trip!

Bridging the gap

There are many presentations on the theme of 'Bridges' beginning with the opening presentation Friday morning by Bob Hastings on the new, recently named 'Tilikum Crossing-Bridge of the People'.

TriMet statement: "The committee unanimously recommended this name to TriMet because we believe it holds the most promise to connect the people of our region today with the long past of people who have been here for thousands of years. It is a name that conveyed the meaning of community for centuries and, we believe, will do so for centuries to come."

Bridging themes are a major part of the 12+ presentations scheduled, with the closing presentation by Sharon Wood Wortman and Ed Wortman about Portland bridge history with a tour of the Morrison Bridge after their presentation.

Take one or take them all

If you can't attend the entire conference, we have you covered.  You can a la carte classes/events or sign up for just one day.   Space is going very fast.  Check out the schedule and join us.

CSI Annual Golf Tournament

August 21, 2014

12:30 - 6:00 PM

This will be a busy year for the Portland Chapter, and we are getting all of our ducks in a row early. Many of you or your firms have participated in the CSI Golf Tournament in one way or another in previous years.  We like to give our longtime supporters the first opportunity to sign up.

Last year, we sold out, and we hope to do so again this year. The earlier you sign up, the more advertising you receive leading up to the event. A big thank you to our early bird sponsors/golfers: DeaMor Associates, Precision Images, Professional Roof Consultants, Weller Associates, Husqvarna, Fortifiber, Forbo Flooring, Tice Industries, Tnemec Company Inc., ARC of Oregon, Toto USA, and Mercer Windows.

We took your suggestions to heart!

We will start an hour earlier this year for a better ending time and will draw raffle tickets after registration and have post the winning numbers. This will help make the event more streamlined and have more time for dinner and networking.

Last month, I was fortunate enough to attend my third CSI Academies event in Indianapolis and am honored to be included in the Academies Task Team for future CSI Academies. This was, as always, an education-filled and fun event. READ MY RECAP HERE >

The 2015 CSI Academies will be held in mid-April in San Francisco. If you have never attended the Academies, this is your chance to participate and learn almost in our own backyard.

September 9-12, Baltimore, MD

Information is becoming available on this year's CONSTRUCT conference, and educational sessions are posted.

We have been informed that CONSTRUCT coincides with the 200th birthday celebration of the Maryland War of 1812. If you have not yet attended CONSTRUCT, this would be an incredible year to start. Due to area events, I strongly suggest that you book your hotel early.

I will be attending my third CONSTRUCT in Baltimore, and I can say with full conviction that it is the highlight of my year.  There is more education, events and fun packed into one week than I thought possible. Don't miss it! LEARN MORE >
