Brrr!
Volunteer Opportunity This Saturday

I just received a request from Meghan Holland, priest in Paducah, who is known to many of you.  A friend of hers works for Governor Beshear's office, and they are looking for volunteers to help with a project to benefit those in domestic violence shelters across the State.  To date, they have no volunteers in Christian County!  I am pasting in the info that has been distributed.  If you are able to help, follow the instructions included.

"Shop & Share Day is a one-day goods drive to benefit domestic violence shelters across the Commonwealth.  On the Saturday of Super Bowl weekend, Kentuckians can shop at Kroger, Food City and Super Dollar Discount Food stores for goods that victims need, and then directly donate those items at the stores.

"This year, Shop & Share Day is this Saturday, Feb. 1.  from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. at all Kentucky Kroger, Food City and Super Dollar Discount Food stores.

"Volunteers at each store will provide a list of items needed at the shelters, such as canned foods, school supplies, toilet paper and soap.

"To sign up to be a volunteer at your local Kroger, Food City or Super Dollar Discount Food store OR make a direct monetary donation to KDVA, go to http://firstlady.ky.gov/initiatives/shopandshare/.

"Our domestic violence shelters do a remarkable job helping victims to get back on their feet and regain control of their lives.  Don't let the cold weather deter you from helping-- volunteering or donating to Shop & Share is a simple way to help these shelters make a difference in victims' lives.

"Thank you to everyone for your support,

"First Lady Jane Beshear"
