Welcome to the Children's Corner!  We send a monthly newsletter informing patrons of upcoming programs and activities for Children and their Families.

Summer Reading Kickoff with Mystic Aquarium Touchtank - Saturday, June 20

10:00 am - 1:00 pm

 

EVERY HERO HAS A STORY! Come celebrate the Heroes of The Sea, as we welcome Mystic Aquarium and their traveling touch tank!

 

Sign up for Summer Reading 2015, get your school's summer reading list and get ready to ready some SUPER, AMAZING books about heroes from all walks of life!

No registration is required.

Tuesday, June 16 - Storytime Friends
10:30 am - 11:30 am  

 

Bring a cuddly friend to introduce to the group and listen to new and exciting stories each week! Informal playtime with storytime friends following the readings. Registration is recommended but not required.

Ms. Christa will read a story and kids and parents can create a related craft! Ages 3 and up with adult supervision required.

Family Drumming Circle - Wednesday, June 17  

4:00 pm - 5:00 pm  

 

Join Dwight "The Professor" Baldwin for some rhythmic fun with percussion! Bring the kids, bring the grandparents, bring your friends and neighbors too! Drums and other percussion instruments will be provided to you. Beginner and experienced drummers alike- all are welcome to participate in this great family activity. Registration

Horses and Heroes!  Sculpture Workshop with the Lyman Allyn Museum - Friday, June 26      


10:30 am - 11:30 am

 

The Summer Reading theme for 2015 is EVERY HERO HAS A STORY! So let's get ready to read!

 

This week we celebrate the heroes of the art world with an art workshop by the Lyman Allyn Museum.

"Heroes & Horses"

 

Hero: Roman Emperor, Marcus Aurelius

 

Project: Sculpting equestrian statues (participants will use clay, wire and wood to design and create their own horse sculptures)

This program is free and open to families and kids of all ages. All materials will be provided. Registration is requested but not required.
