Libraries are Family Learning Centers
Libraries shone brightly at the National Center for Families Learning Summit in Washington, DC this week.

Congratulations to Nashville Public Library's, TN, Elizabeth Atack, the 2014 recipient of the Toyota Family Teacher of the Year Award, given in recognition of the library's high-impact early childhood programs that have demonstrably increased parent engagement and kindergarten readiness. Houston Public Library, TX, was honored as one of the first recipients of a new Toyota Family Learning Grant Program! The library will receive $175,000 to support new mentor and service learning activities that target vulnerable families. Learn more about HPL's family learning programs.

National Medal for Museum and Library Services
2014 is the 20th Anniversary of this distinguished awards program that recognizes museums and libraries that set new standards for exemplary service to their communities. To mark this milestone, IMLS will spotlight previous winning institutions - including 21 ULC member libraries - through a special Facebook campaign.
