Dear Colleagues,

If things look a little different, they are. We've updated the look and feel of this newsletter to mirror design changes that are coming to EngageNY.org early this summer. We've also heard from you that we need to provide more support around viewing our Common Core videos. So, we've created individual and group professional development exercises that you can use on your own or with a team of educators. We will continue to make improvements and will share those directly with you.

I recently sent a note to superintendents regarding the Grades 3-8 ELA and math assessments, including resources to support teachers and parents. Click here to read the letter.

Sincerely,

John B. King, Jr.
Commissioner

EngagedVoices Blog: Just Warming Up

Don't judge...we've all been there. We run out to our car only to realize that the windows are covered in frost. As we slowly back out of the driveway, we can start to see the beginnings of the defroster kicking in so we become encouraged, only to look again and realize that we can't clearly make out the world in front of us, therefore becoming nervous and anxious about the ride ahead. But again, we trust that in just another minute, all will be clear. Before we know it, that stop sign a few feet down the street can be seen in all of its red and white authority! We sigh a breath of relief knowing that we are well on our way ...
