Spring is about renewal. The warmer (usually) temperatures, budding trees and longer days awaken the senses and feed the soul. For many of us, the thaw of spring means time to get back on the Parkway...and that always puts a little SPRING in our step! It also means that the Foundation team is busy as a bee putting together vibrant programming for the Music Center, opening TRACK Trails, and working with the National Park Service to plan our projects for the year.

Springing into 2014
Each year, the Foundation carefully selects a list of funding and programming priorities to benefit the Parkway. After many conversations with NPS staff, a detailed review from the Foundation team, and careful consideration of the Foundation's Board, the 2014 funding has been announced.

Follow the leader
Our recent board meeting was a busy one, as we welcomed a new Chair and Vice-Chair, along with several new trustees and advisors, to the Foundation. Broaddus Fitzpatrick, an attorney, conservationist and community volunteer from Roanoke, VA, has accepted the role of Chair. Gary Stewart, who has worked with numerous parks including the Parkway through his role at Woolpert, Inc. in Charlotte, has accepted the role of Vice-Chair. We also welcomed Jack Betts as Secretary and Pat Shore Clark continues as Treasurer. Read more about our incredible group of trustees and advisors here.

Music to our ears
 The Foundation is thrilled to welcome Richard Emmett as the new Program Director for the Blue Ridge Music Center.
Richard brings a wealth of experience, and love for traditional music, to the team. For the past eighteen years, Richard has been involved with arts and entertainment in Winston-Salem and elsewhere, producing and programming events. The Music Center needs...YOU!
If you have ever been to Mid-Day Mountain Music or any of the large concerts at the Blue Ridge Music Center during the summer and fall, you've likely noticed the dozens of volunteers on site who make each event a special one.
The Music Center is currently recruiting volunteers for the summer season. A volunteer training will take place in April. Help us help the Parkway
 George Bernard Shaw once said "There is no sincerer love than the love of food." Had the Parkway been around in his day and age, we're sure he would have loved it as well! But, there is something very special about a great meal at a great restaurant that supports a place you love. This June, you will have dozens of chances to celebrate both the love of food and the love of the Parkway.
We're gearing up for the Third Annual Plates for the Parkway. This year, we hope to partner with 100 restaurants who want to make a difference to the Parkway by donating a portion of proceeds from a meal or meals during the week of June 16-19 to the Foundation.

 Love the North Carolina Arboretum? Good news! We're installing a TRACK Trail there this month.
Please join us for the Grand Opening of the North Carolina Arboretum TRACK Trail on Saturday, March 22nd. The Arborteum is located near Blue Ridge Parkway Milepost 393 in Asheville. The Arboretum staff, Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation, National Park Service and other guests will gather at 1pm for a ribbon cutting ceremony and guided walk along the new TRACK Trail!
