| May 30th was the final play date for the Spring League. The game for the day was Pink Lady, also known as Money Ball, Devil Ball, Lone Ranger or Yellow Ball. Teams consisted of four players and were pretty well balanced for the competition. On each hole, one of the four golfers played a pink ball (hence the name Pink Lady). The golfers teed off and played their own ball for the 18 holes. Two scores were combined for the team score - the Pink Lady net score and the lowest net score from the other three players. This format added a little pressure for the golfer having the pink ball because if you lose it, you had to add two strokes to your final score for a "lost ball". Some teams risked injury or getting caught by a marshal just to keep the ball in play (we won't mention names here).
The team of
Judy Mayes, Linda Reid and Diane Emond won with a net 129, two strokes under the team of
Laurie Hochmuth, Chao Chen, Kris Corbridge and Marilyn Peterson.
Tammy Pinnick, Lori Lucius and Kayleen Kott got the best value for their fees (I think you know what I mean).
Pam Katros on her game with a gross 82 winning low net at 64! Congratulations to
Sally Paniagua on a special recognition - Perseverance Prize - for playing in all five league days, never giving up, keeping up with pace of play and trending down her handicap. Congratulations of all of our league winners. Watch for a future announcement on the Fall League.
