The Seattle Public Library has a strategic framework that guides its decision-making in forming external relationships with other organizations. In this program, City Librarian Marcellus Turner will describe the key elements of the framework, including the creation of an office of partnerships and government relations. Building the STEM Workforce    

 

In the ongoing effort to build a high-functioning, representative STEM workforce,US2020 is a new organization dedicated to increasing access to STEM mentoring opportunities for a variety of groups including girls and under-represented minorities. Libraries and museums are eligible to join citywide coalitions that can apply to the US2020 City Competition. The deadline for the first round in this process is October 18. Apply today.

MEMBER ACHIEVEMENTS

Jim Fish, Director of Baltimore County Public Library (BCPL), has announced his retirement effective June 30, 2014, after nearly 18 years leading BCPL's 19-branch library system and over 43 years as a public library director.
   

 

 

The Charles Revson Foundation has announced the 5 winners of the 1st-ever NYC Neighborhood Library Awards, the culmination of an initiative that generated 4,310 nominations from New Yorkers of all walks of life.    

 

 

 

Enoch Pratt Free Library has received a $3 million capital campaign grant from the Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Foundation for the renovation of its Central Library.
