Right now, at the Haggin Oaks Expo, our volunteers are braving the weather to staff our booth! But it looks like Deana is having fun anyway!
If you are over at Haggin for the Expo today or this weekend, be sure to stop by our booth and say "Hi!" ... you'll get an EWGA button if you do!
We can still use a few more volunteers if anyone feels like working in the booth on Saturday or Sunday - either sign up using the button below, or send an email to Fern Lukka ([email protected]).

We had 30 ladies and one gentleman make the trek over to Silverado Country Club in Napa for a lovely way to spend a Monday. There were members from Sacramento as well as several members from the Sonoma Marin chapter.
We had closest to the pin contests on all four par threes paying out first and second place. We contributed $5 to participate and divided the pot amongst the winners.
The winners are as follows:
Hole # 3: 1st - Laura Espinoza 2nd - Kim Chapman
Hole # 7: 1st - Jeri Paik 2nd - Terry Blair
Hole # 15: 1st - Tyra Jarvis 2nd - Paulette Brooks
Hole # 17: 1st - Kris Corbridge 2nd - Karen Biscaha
Oh, by the way, Kris Corbridge won with a hole in one!!!!

Kris Corbridge made a Hole-In-One at the 17th hole at Silverado on Monday, April 21st! Hopefully her closest-to-the-pin winnings helped pay for all those drinks!

Early Results for Fantasy 18 |
The inaugural fantasy 18 began March 1st and already shows signs of being a great competition. Everyone appears to be very excited and scores are beginning to come in. So far 9 of the 17 registrants have submitted scorecards. As of April 25 the leaders are Tillie Melton at -3 for 8 holes, Patricia Ickes at -2.75 with 11 holes played, Tammy Pinnick at -1 for 2 holes, and Kathleen McKilligan at even par for 1 hole.
There is plenty of the season left, so if you haven't already registered do so today and get in on the fun. Remember this is an eclectic competition so you can play the same course several times to improve your score, but also remember that any score shot during an EWGA event earns you an additional -0.25 for the hole. See our website for all the details and register NOW!
Just a few notes: be sure to put your current index/course handicap at the time you played somewhere on the card, sign and have attested with date and if it was during an EWGA event. Also for scanned scorecards, please be sure that the name of the course is somewhere on the side that is scanned so we know what course was played.
For those already registered don't forget to submit your cards even if the score is not as good as you would like. |
The registration deadline for Lincoln Hills Has been extended until tomorrow (Saturday, April 26), so you still have time to sign up (in case you put it off ... again)!!

Monday Night Fun Play: A Special Event |
on April 28th - A Later Start Time!
Our "Monday Night 9 Hole Fun Play" will be at Woodcreek Golf Club instead of Sierra Pines on April 28th.
A small group participated in the April 14th Event and our thanks to Mary Lou Azevedo for onsite coordination. These ladies had a fun time on a gorgeous evening!
April 28th
Next week we are making the tee time later for those of you who want to play after work. We are excited to offer the Yoga for Golfers Class at 4:00 p.m. The class is being taught by Marilyn Herbert, LPGA Professional. No prior yoga experience is necessary. Just bring a mat (or blanket) and a golf club! The cost is $10 and payable to the instructor. You will benefit from exercises that slowly, gently and effectively move your body toward greater strength and flexibility. The instructor will be available to join you on the range and help with swing changes. This class is a great way to warm up!
Our tee time is 5:15 p.m. for those of you who only want to golf. Pay at the course - $15 to walk and $20 to ride. After golf, you are welcome to join us in the Legends Bar and Grill for a special happy hour menu.
Email Del Sayles-Owen ([email protected]), if you are interested in playing 9 holes at Woodcreek and/or attending the Yoga for Golfers Class. She will add you to the Evite list so that you get an invitation with all the details. |
Rules of Golf - Commonly Encountered Situations
*** Registration Deadline Extended! ***
There is still room in the class so we are extending the registration deadline until April 27, 2014. During the class some of those pesky questions that all new golfers struggle with will be addressed:
- OMG, there is goose p--p right in front of my ball - can I move it?
- I can't find my ball - now what?
- My ball is a mess, can I clean it now?
- Uh-oh - I just hit the wrong ball.
- So what the heck is "casual water"?
So here is your chance to brush up on the rules. When you register for the class, please feel free to add your own burning questions in the comments section. That way John will be prepared to address them!
