Keynote Speaker Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Eric Rubin; Amb. Eerik Marmei, Embassy of Estonia; Amb. Elena Poptodorova, Embassy of Bulgaria; Jonathan Katz, U.S. Agency for International Development; Ofer Glanz, American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (JDC) and David Feinman, World Jewish Restitution Organization gave an update on the region, addressed property restitution, and discussed Jewish needs in the region. Read the summary

NCSEJ leader attended a farewell lunch for Lithuanian Ambassador Z ygimantas Pavilionis. 
It was an opportunity for NCSEJ and other organizations to thank Ambassador Pavilionis for his many years of service, to review the state of US-Lithuanian relations, and to discuss issues affecting the Jewish communities in his country.

NCSEJ Deputy Director Lesley Weiss addressed participants at the Jan Karski Institute for Holocaust Education briefing at the State Department on Holocaust issues, cultural preservation, and anti-Semitism. She joined colleagues from the Office of the Special Envoy on Holocaust Issues and Ira Forman, Special Envoy to Monitor and Combat Anti-Semitism.

Alumni and young leaders from DC's Russian-speaking Jewish community met at Hillel International for a JDC Entwine event "From the Shtetl to Selfie: The Changing Face of Eastern European Jewry". The event featured JDC professional Alexandra Shklar.

NCSEJ and its member agencies met with former Odesa mayor and former member of the Verkhovna Rada (Ukraine's parliament) Eduard Hurvitz to discuss current developments in Ukraine and issues of importance to the Jewish community.
