Thank you for your wonderful response to the prayer and praise night for marriage on Monday 21 October 2013 and thank you for the many letters you sent as well. Prayer mixed with action is very powerful.
Many people of faith gathered all over the nation in small groups and in churches to pray on Monday night. It is our conviction that God has heard our prayers and praises. Most of the answers are yet to be apparent. Prayer is making a way.
On Tuesday 22 October, the ACT Legislative Assembly voted 8-7, a one vote margin, to legalise homosexual marriage in the ACT. The one vote margin was attained by the sole Green member in the Legislative Assembly. This is a retrograde step for our children. Children have a biological birthright to a mother and a father. Homosexual marriage will rob them of this right.

Thankfully the newly elected Federal Government will challenge this law in the High Court of Australia. Your letters you sent to the Prime Minister and coalition parliamentarians really worked.The Commonwealth Solicitor General has said that the ACT law is invalid under Australia's constitution, written in 1901. The Federal Government, according to the 'Writ of Challenge' is asking the High Court to expedite the hearing. This is good news.
Chris Brohier, a barrister from Lawyers for the Family, believes that the current ACT bill to redefine marriage, is invalid and in the event of the ACT Law being struck down by the High Court, the current proposals for homosexual marriage by both NSW and Tasmania would also become invalid.
Interestingly there seemed to be a great degree of confusion and conflict amongst the proponents of the ACT homosexual marriage bill. The final wording of the bill was criticised by those who supported it.
Let us continue to pray - but there are also two practical things you can do.

- Send an email of thanks to the Liberal members of the ACT Legislative Assembly who voted against the homosexual marriage bill. Tick the box for the appropriate list.
- Send an email to all members of the Liberal/National Coalition in Federal Parliament to congratulate them on taking the ACT homosexual marriage bill to the High Court to have it struck down. Encourage them to move quickly to overturn this anti-family legislation. Make sure you thank them at the same time. Tick the box for the appropriate list.
Thank you for your stand for the truth. The children of Australia will one day thank you.
