Between Monday, January 27, and Friday, February 7, the San Francisco Conservatory of Dance will host a series of open Gaga classes in our studios (see details below) taught by guest teacher Doug Letheren, a former member of the Batsheva Dance Company now working with choreographer Sharon Eyal.

Director Summer Lee Rhatigan is also in the midst of a national audition tour, looking for outstanding students to join our 2014 Summer Intensives--the three sessions of which include the study of William Forsythe's Improvisational Technologies and repertory, the study of Ohad Naharin's Gaga movement language and repertory, and the development of new works with our resident choreographers. Doug Letheren will be joining Summer in New York on February 9th to teach a Gaga class immediately preceding that audition. This class will be open to both students who intend to audition and students who would just like to take the class.

We hope to see you at one of these upcoming events!

Classes may be purchased in advance online with Visa, Mastercard, or checking account debit, or in person with cash or check. Classes bought online are good for any open Gaga or ballet class at SFCD. Please note that purchasing a class online does not reserve a spot in a particular class. It is recommended that you arrive early to register as classes will be filled on a first-come, first-serve basis. Classes will be limited to 45 people and will start on time. No one will be admitted to the classes once they've begun.

All classes will take place at the San Francisco Conservatory of Dance, 301 Eighth Street #205/270, San Francisco, 94103. Please contact Megan Kurashige at Megan@SFConservatoryofDance.org for more information.

2014 Audition Tour
From January through March, the Conservatory is conducting an audition tour for the 2014 SFCD Summer Intensives.

The three sessions of SFCD's 2014 Summer Intensive aim to advance students' artistic development through: advanced training in ballet and modern technique by a stellar faculty; the study of William Forsythe's Improvisational Technologies and Ohad Naharin's Gaga movement language, as well as selected pieces from their respective repertoires; and the development of new works with the Conservatory's resident choreographers. While Forsythe and Naharin are perhaps best known internationally as groundbreaking contemporary choreographers, they independently developed Improvisational Technologies and Gaga over the course of many years as proprietary systems to help dancers expound upon and refine their choices as movers and thinkers. The opportunity for dancers to gain in-depth exposure to their teachings is rare and we are delighted to be able to offer students the chance to study with their personally selected representatives. Technique classes will be taught by Summer Lee Rhatigan, Alex Ketley, Chiharu Shibata, Christian Burns, and Tristan Ching.

Note: Completed registration materials are required before an audition begins. Please see "How to Apply" on our website.
