Greetings and God's Peace to you!
MUSINGS FROM THE PASTOR

These are not in any particular order of importance....Just flow of thought....

RECOGNITION OF GRADUATES

CONGRATULATIONS to all of our 2015 grads!  We would like to recognize your achievements during the 9:00 am worship service this Sunday, June 21st.  We hope to see you at worship!  I will call you forward during the service, where you can tell us us where you graduated from and what your future plans include.

SUMMER WORSHIP SCHEDULE

THIS SUNDAY, JUNE 21st,  we begin our summer worship schedule.  Until and including Labor Day weekend, we will have ONE WORSHIP SERVICE at 9:00 am.  There will be no summer Sunday School.  You will be seeing some people in worship that you haven't seen since last Fall!

The Senior Choir will be on hiatus during the summer, so we will be looking for other musical offerings for our services.  If you have a gift you would like to share (vocal, instrumental...), talk to Jennifer Kishbaugh or Linda Eberhart.  BTW:  Michael Bodnyk will be singing on Father's Day, June 21st.

A PLACE AT THE TABLE

The Hunger Committee of the "Communities That Cares" program of the W-C area is sponsoring the showing of the movie, "A Place at the Table" this Tuesday, June 23, in a program from 11 am until 2:30 pm, to be held at the Zentz Community Center at Fellowship Community, off Rural Road.

The film shows why our country is in a food crisis. "50 million Americans-- 1 in 4 children-don't know where their next meal is coming from."  Based on a 2013 survey of 6th graders in the Whitehall-Coplay School District, 16.1% of them worried that the food t home was going to run out before the family had money to buy more.

Following the viewing of the film, a light lunch will be served, followed by a panel discussion led by local leaders.  If you would like to attend, please RSVP to our church office by noon on Monday. (Yes, Prayer Group will end in time for you to participate.)

EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS: Do you want to assist?

So we are looking for a few more Eucharistic Ministers.  Does this sound like something you'd like to do?  The number and scheduling of visits is up to you.  I provide necessary guidance, and, at least to start, you will be teamed up with someone else.  I am having a meeting with Eucharistic Ministers on SUNDAY, JUNE 28, after the worship service.  I invite anyone to join us, even if it's just to find out what it's all about.

While I'm thinking of it, perhaps there are other ways you might like to assist.  If so, all you need to do is let me know.  We look for volunteers for liturgists (leading worship), lectors (reading the lessons) and communion assistants (assisting with communion).  {yeah, I thought you'd like that!}

CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR YOUTH

One of the good things about Facebook (yes, there might be one or two other advantages...) is that you might see some things about people  (of importance) that you might otherwise not know.  We saw that some of our young people have had some academic highlights:

-GABRIELLE  LANCE received a certificate signed by President Obama, recognizing "Outstanding Academic Excellence.

-AMBER PEIRCE received a certificate from Zephyr Elementary for "earning all A's for the entire year."

THE REV. ROBERT L. GEORGE SCHOLARSHIP

Applications for the scholarship are available from the church office or from the literature rack in the narthex (lobby).  Completed applications must be returned to the church office no later than Friday, July 31st.

Please note that the Scholarship Committee has worked to revamp that process by which the scholarship will be granted.  The application is different from that used previously.

UPCOMING ROOF WORK

As a prelude to the upcoming roof work, new piping was laid from the south roof drainpipes all the way around to the drain field behind the office.  BTW:  If you're going to look for a job in concrete work, be the guy driving the truck.  While two guys were sweating as they wheelbarreled concrete, the driver never had to get out of his air-conditioned cab! He pushed buttons for everything!

The roof work should be starting soon...Bring your cameras to church if you want pictures of the church without a steeple; it has to be temporarily removed as part of the project.....A good time to tell you that we appreciate your extra offerings for the roofing project!
