Please mark June 12th on your calendars and join us for the opening reception of our 2015 Photography Senior Thesis Exhibition.  Every June we hold a public  exhibition  of our graduating seniors' thesis projects; thesis is a nine-month, self-directed project of the student's choosing.  The opening reception is well attended by industry professionals and is a wonderful evening celebrating our students'  photography.  This year's event will be held at the Leonard Pearlstein Gallery in the URBN Annex at 3401 Filbert Street.

Press and Shows

 

Andrea Modica , professor ,  has an exhibition of 40 of her platinum prints from the Human Being series on display at the Art Gallery of the Fulginiti Pavilion for Bioethics and Humanities at the University of Colorado Anschultz Medical Campus in Denver. The prints were recently donated by a collector to the Denver Art Museum and will be on display until May 23rd.

Niko Kallianiotis, adjunct, had his project "Bittersweet Apple" featured on Posi+Tive Magazine.  Also, he recently had work in the following shows:
2015 NVAL International Juried Photography Show, Juror Thom Sempere, Carter House Gallery, Redding, CA.
2015 Call to Artists Juried Exhibition, Juror Mark Klett, Capture 12 Gallery, Phoenix, AZ.
2015 Open Call Juried Exhibition, Juror Jeff Curto, PhotoPlace Gallery, Middlebury, VT.

 

Jason Varney, adjunct, has been busy with editorial work: 

cover and feature of March Issue of Prevention Magazine, as well as, projects for Bon Appetit, Chronicle Books, Philadelphia, Rodale's Organic Living.   And advertising projects for: Urban Outfitters, Garces Group, Philadelphia Distilling, Honeygrow. 

Joanna Ference, senior, has a photograph in Project Basho's ONWARD Compe '15 through May. The same photograph was  selected for American Photography 31's annual publication and juried online collection.

Leah Bank, senior, had a photograph selected for the PPAC 6th Annual Contemporary Photography Exhibition.  The show opens on June 11th.  For more show information, click here.

Shan Cerrone, alumni, has just released the beginning of a long-term collaboration between himself and artist Matt Deifer of BodyPaint.me.  They have also merged studios in a new space in Fishtown.  Click here to see this project.

 

Peter Murray, alumni, is currently shooting/directing videos for local businesses and universities including UPenn's Product Design Graduate Program, Fork Restaurant, and Felt + Fat.  And will also be shooting video for the Travel Channel in May.  He also directs and documents a performance art troupe that has performed in a few galleries/museums in the area (Little Berlin, New Boon(e), Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art) with their biggest and most ambitious performance yet at the Fringe Arts Theatre in July.

 

Danielle Kyberd, alumni, has a gallery show in NYC, titled 'New Perspectives' at the New Century Artist's Gallery, 530 West 25th st, NY. The show runs from May 19th-30th. The opening is Saturday May 23rd from 3-6pm. 

 

Michael LeGrand, alumni, is working on a portrait project in counjuction with a crowdsourced Fundraising festival called ONE SPARK.  The project is about photographing a large portion of the attendees to represent a slice of the diversity of the group attending ONE SPARK.

 

Ashley Smith and Caryn Coyle, alumni, are completing their MFA's in Photography, Video and Related Media at SVA.  Their thesis exhibition will be on display at the SVA Chelsea Gallery (601 W. 26th St 15th Fl, NYC) from June 13th-27th.  

 

Tyler Haughey, alumni, has been selected as a 2015 recipient of an Individual Artist Fellowship from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts and had a photograph chosen for Project Basho's ONWARD Compe '15 being shown through May.

 

Gabrielle Perez, alumni, has started a new job with The Columbia group as Staff Communications Analyst and will be photographing for their quarterly newsletter.
