During the first week of July, I had the privilege to chat with financial author Scott Burns. What was intended to be a brief interview about his new book, Spend 'til the End [my review] lasted for nearly two hours. Burns was fascinating.
It has taken weeks to edit this conversation into something digestible for the web. It's still quite long, but I hope it's as interesting to you as it is to me.

Currency Reserves vs. Currency Peg One day the world will wake up and learn that the Iraqi dinar has been given a new value. Immediately and without question the world will, on that day, act as if it is true. Business will quickly be conducted at this new value simply because we have been told that the dinar is worth "X". Such is the world of fiat money as it plays out daily with no one stopping to ask questions. This then leads us to how the controlling agency (in this case the CBI) defines (or measures) this valuation for their money and this we call the peg (or the backing basket). ~~~

"Does this nullify the theory of a lop" ????? So ........ why would the spend money to reprint if they are going to "Snip-Snip" the 3 zeros off the notes ???? So ........ IMO ....... no lop would mean.... Value ADDED to the rate !!!! Shouldn't that give MORE confidence that the rate is going to increase ???? The big question is ............. WHEN !!!!!!!!!!!!! ....

(Reuters) - Britain urged the U.S. Congress on Monday to stop delaying approval of reforms to the International Monetary Fund that would give more power at the institution to emerging economies.
Finance minister George Osborne, in a speech in Rio de Janeiro, said it was time for the world's new heavyweight nations such as Brazil to have a bigger say at the IMF.
"Let's implement the reforms we have agreed to in our international institutions like the IMF, so that countries like Brazil have the enhanced status and say that your economic strength earns you the right to," Osborne said.
