Leadership Introduction
From Melissa Holloway, Kingman Community Impact Committee Member

Melissa Holloway

When I first started volunteering with the United Way about 4 years ago, I had no idea of what the organization was really about. Don't get me wrong I had heard about them, but not exactly what they did in the community. One of the committee members (Lynn Kannianen) sent an invite to McKee Foods Corporation, and I was able to jump on the "bandwagon".

I noticed that we had the chance to work with the community and charities closely, it has been an enjoyable ride with the United Way.  I thoroughly enjoy working on the committee, and look forward to many years to come.

From St. Mary's Food Bank Alliance...
"A young man down on his luck, living in his vehicle outside of his girlfriends house, told by his parents that he was worthless and wouldn't amount to anything - attempted to commit suicide.

He went to the community soup kitchen at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic, an agency that receives food from St. Mary's Food Bank Alliance. There, he was advised to work for a local plastics manufacturer due to their physical labor and constant employee turnover, they were in need of young laborers who could handle the workload.  He took the advise and was hired.

Today, he comes back to the soup kitchen to give thanks to those who gave him hope. He's married now, with a newborn baby, and a place to live."
