Speaker Panel: Best Starts for Kids Discussion

Research shows that the first five years of a child's life are some of the most critical to brain development and forming habits they will take with them all of their life. Research also shows that investing in a child's development sees the highest return the earlier investment is made. King County is making a move this November to fully invest in area children with the proposed Best Starts for Kids initiative. The initiative, if approved by voters, would provide investments to:

  • Strengthen a child's early development
  • Invest at key developmental milestones on a child's journey to adulthood.
  • Create healthy communities that reinforce this progress.

This effort would be another example of King County taking a step to lead the nation in supporting prevention to put children on the path toward lifelong success.

Northeastern University-Seattle invites leaders from the King County community to discuss the importance of early childhood development and the impact the Best Starts for Kids Initiative would have on the King County community.
